Did anyone else hear this yesterday during the 911 commission hearings?
On my way home from work yesterday, I was listening to the 911 commission hearings and heard some guy in the Bush administration say that they were doing the "Lord's work". Did anyone else hear this?

1. The lords work
is one of the tenants of the religous right. In speaking with(I am ashamed to say) some relatives of mine, they believe that Bush was put in the WH by GOD. And it is devine will that he is there. Gives new meaning to the phrase"Father forgive them for they know not what they do".

14. BUSH believes
he was put in the White House by God! He believes God told him to invade Afghanistan, and then God told him to invade Iraq. At least that is what he says he believes.

AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

2. I didn't hear that, but..
I was dealing with constant interruptions. Any idea who said it? Wasn't Armitage the last Bushie to testify?

15. Yes the one that looks like Uncle Fester
He also said something about "Not wanting to drink his own bath water"
(and I am not kidding it's so nice to have integrity back in the WH)

It was that clown, Armitage.

The Lord's Work. Can you believe he wasn't struck by lightning?

7. c-span is re-airing the hearings over the weekend.
I'm sure you can go to their site and check the schedule.

I did listed to the entire 2 days and didn't hear anyone say that, but after that many hours, I guess I could have missed it.

11. It was mind-numbing after hours and hours...
I even started out trying to take some notes, and finally abandoned that idea, hoping a transcript would become available.

After Rummy testified, I said to my kids that listening at that point was a waste of time, I must be tired, because I didn't "get" anything he said. They all said, "Oh THAT guy? No, mom, he was just babbling." Out of the mouths of babes.... O8)

13. I found the exact quote from the transcript on the NY Times website
"ARMITAGE: Clearly, we have to continue to look very closely at the CIA, law enforcement and personal liberties of our citizens issues and weave our way through those very carefully, but very astutely. And it seems to me that's the first issue. The second is, I think the direction that Director Tenet has taken the Central Intelligence Agency has been extraordinarily noteworthy, but some of us were around at a time when the agency was frightened away from doing the dirty, hard and dangerous work that needs to be done to secure our nation. And I think to the extent that you can make covert actions more acceptable and more understood, more broadly, then you'll be doing the lord's work."

So, according to this, the "dirty, hard and dangerous...covert actions" is the "lord's work."

This perspective is abdominal in my opinion.
