4. ...and...
...."did the news media" also contribute to the insult by sitting there laughing?

Rumsfeld: "I wasn't there."

3. surprising, as she's been quite the enthusiastic Pentagon shill
Rumsfeld: "Uh I wasn't there uh to know what I would think uh I'd have to be there... uh the context of this evening - uh, I wasn't there... I'm not in a position to be judgmental about that."

11. I'm only in the position to be judgmental
on things they papa Bu$h tells me I can be judge mental on. Like, I really like judging gays, they're easy targets, but I'm not real good at judging character, only bad character, like Clarke, O'Neil, Wilson, those guys are obviously of bad character, I can judge that, but good character...bad taste, I don't think I can make that sort of judgment, I wasn't there, I wasn't in the loop.

(In dumbsfields drivel)

22. She's at least a consistent conservative - kinda Dobbs-like
Edited on Thu Mar-25-04 03:02 PM by mouse7
Dobbs is a consistant traditional conservative. He hates what's bad for business, and has been climbing all over Dumbya for what is bad for business.

Starr is very hawkish. However, being hawkish means you show respect for the sacrifices of the soldiers in the military. Dumbya was cleatly way out of bounds last night, and Starr said it.

I have respect for those who disagree, but are consistant in their views.

If she wasn't so ugly, I'd kiss her. Well, maybe not, but I thought it was great. Very tastefully asked and as expected-- never answered.

17. What a coincidence!
I just sent this to CNN not five minutes ago.

"Bush has a sickening sense of humor. Does he really not realize how many people he killed over his bogus WMD claims? What does this say about him personally? What does it say about CNN replaying these "jokes" so the families of the thousands of people whose lives were thrown away by this President can hear other sick minded people laughing and applauding over and over as the President makes a fool of himself yet again?"

He's a rat bastard.

19. Maybe a Kerry ad can use this clip
about our Great Commander yukking it up when there are coffins of dead soldiers arriving a few miles away. I'm sure they Rove & Co. would understand. After all, they are used to using video and sound bites out of context. Like Kerry's 'voted for and then voted against $87 billion' bit.

And what was the little talking heads' response an hour ago-"Point taken". And that was the end of it (the last hour, at least).

26. true, Starr is a Pentagon shill
But I'm sure that because she's assigned exclusively to the Pentagon she got an earful from the military rank and file in the building about the 'joke'.

I almost dropped my Pepsi when she asked the question, but it makes sense. I'm sure these guys ripped into the press for laughing at it, which shamed her into including the press laughter in the question.

So far she's the ONLY media person (other than Matthews tonight) who's questioned the press laughter. Good for her.

30. not true (not the shill part.....the lack of reporter negative reaction)
Edited on Fri Mar-26-04 04:39 AM by buycitgo
Bill Press, Pat Buchanan, Karen Tumulty, and some guy from the Hill, or somej congressional rag, plus the moderator (CNBC today) ALL agreed that the 'joke' was not funny, and a VERY bad judgment on both idiotboy's and his advisers' parts

they also mentioned the press disconnect, demonstrating how out of touch with the mainstream they've become

Buchanan was probably the most forceful

AND....last night, Dan Abrams had on Judy Gold, Jim Morris, and Clinton jokewriter (name?), discussing this event.

Abrams asked them to grade the performance.

Gold gave him a C, I think; so did Katz (?), and Morris gave him and F MINUS!!!!

his point was that the WMD jokes were horrid, making just the points made here. Abrams was PISSED, saying that his comments were POLITICAL, and not appropriate when discussing comedy. !!!!!!

too funny....there was a thread on this here yesterday.

31. No Kudos from Me!
I found her framing of the question suspect. She probably heard from people about the reporters involvement. As she spoke, I figured she laughed louder than anyone that night. She gets no encourgement from me.

year in 2001.

I guess I would feel the same way if I got away with the crime of the millenium.
