The White Houses dilemma with Clarke's testimony
When Clarke said yesterday "We Tried Hard, But ... We Failed", Bush lost the election. Bush's only claim to fame is that he has been a "successful war president" against terrorism. But Clarke shoots that lie all to hell. And that is Bush's only strong suit in all of the polls. Now what is he going to talk about? The economy and millions of lost jobs? The record deficit we now have? The coalition of the unwilling pulling troops out of Iraq? No WMDs? Wheres Osama? Not many successes for Junior to talk about.

Don

4. "Clarke is Kerry's best friend"
They will play politics and spend their war chest. By Nov, Clarke will be accussed of LIHOP to get his buddy elected.

In the meanwhile, there will be a sex scandal involving some celebrity or a game-fixing scandal on American Idol to distract the American public.

Color me skeptical

5. he's gonna spend time trying to engage
but it may be too late. His credibility has been weakened. Yes he still has his wingnuts but i doubt independent voters are swayed.

Expect a trip to Europe, Osama popping up, more terror alerts, the usual.

The problem bush has is swaying independents. Poll after poll has him trailing badly.

When all is said and done it's gonna be about one thing: Jobs!

7. As reagan Said in '80...
...beware of the October surprise. Hopefully it would backfire on shrub and the majority of Americans would see it as the cynical ploy it would be and send his unelected ass back to the pig farm to clear brush and get drunk for the rest of his pointless, mis-spent and totally irrelevent existance!

6. I'm hoping that this guys testimony will cause others to come clean.

8. god, gays, guns, and abortion
If elected, John Kerry will arrest people for being Christian, make your kids go to a day-care run by homos, take your guns, and make your daughter have an abortion. The only question is how many votes that's good for. My guess: less than 40% of the electorate.

9. Clarke Out Soundbit 'Em
I was looking for a "golden moment"...a "cancer growing on the Presidency" line from Clarke and I wasn't disappointed...he gave us a bunch. The appology was the killer that made all the news and chatter shows and won't go away.

Clarke is refreshing since he is the first "beltway type" that has actually taken responsibility about 9/11 and his mea culpa holds so much more weight in light of the attacks on him by this regime and it's history of non-stop denials and derliction of any shread of responsibility for their own actions. Clarke came across as both confident and sincere...especially when put on the hot seat.

No doubt, seeing Jimmy Thompson get his head handed to him brought lots of cheers in our household. What grandstanding, but it's like he was setting up Clarke for the real kill with the remark about sounding good for "the boss"...Thompson, of all people, knows this and I was suprised he was used as hatchet man. That's good...reminds us, here in Illinois, of how far the GOOP has fallen in this state.

Yep, RoveCo. has been taken down a couple notches on what it thought was it's pillar to ride to some great electoral mandate/victory. Anytime Bunnypants attempts to play "warrior in thief", we can just roll out another segment of Mr. Clarke's testimony...UNDER OATH...and see if Mr. Bushbot or Rove or Mz. Rice would dare to do the same.

We're already seeing the "scorched earth" defense that is like a reflex action to the wingnuts...it's constant attack and distortion. It's not that Dubya ignored 9/11, it's Clinton had a chance to kill bin Laden first. It's not the economy, it's those gays wanting to get married. It's not rising oil prices, it's an attempt to destroy the Bush regime (and the right wingnuts meal ticket...or visa versa...never sure about whose the preditor in this situation). I hope they keep up the attacks and the venom...we're still 6 months out and they can't keep this up all that time. Rest well, Mr. Kerry.
