Is Chuck Hagel.....
Edited on Wed Mar-24-04 09:59 PM by Teddy_Salad
....god forbid......a decent republican?
Or is he just 'the typical republican'?

Never thought I would ever type those two words..."decent" and "republican" alongside one another but he came across as, well, at least 'reasonable' on Larry King.

1. He has been pretty decent
they're starting to distance themselves. A little bit decent and a whole lotta CYA?

8. Nebraska is such a Republican state
that it makes sense that a politician who wanted to win would be one, too.

I think there are other states where Hagel would have naturally been a Democrat.

2. Many Republicans...
... are decent. Many many of them are. (Many, sadly, are not, but lest we forget all those not-so-decent democrats?) Chuck Hagel, for his part, is highly decent. Oh, for the days of a Hagel-Kerrey Nebraska Senatorial delegation!

5. I don't know much about him but is this the same Chuck Hagel ...
...that failed to disclose not only his financial interest in ES&S' parent company, the McCarthy Group, but also the positions he held with American Information Systems (now called ES&S)?

6. Yep, that's him---and he won 85% of the vote in Nebraska...
a State that hadn't had a Repub. in many years, all while he was a partner in the ES&S group. By the way, his voting machines counted the votes.

9. hagel's record
Chuck has some good sound bites on the issues of the day.

But it looks like he is looking for more over nights in Lincoln's bedroom or maybe something even bigger...

Here is the record:

10. Hagel is decent
he didn't once even dare attack Clarke tonight, not that I'm surprised given the circumstances. But from the times I've seen him, he seems decent

13. Decent Senators...
...don't lie about their connections to voting machine companies.

Folks, Hagel is the fall back position in 2008, if they can't keep a Bush in office in 2004.

Hagel goes back to Bush #1.

Hagel can wear another hat when there are enough other more extreme types in congress, to get issues through that he can vote against, but only for the PR.

Don't be fooled by this for a minute. Hagle is beginning his run now and backing off Bush. But it's all show.

11. A Republican is a Republican
Because they enable Republicans like Orrin Hatch and Rick Santorum. If they were decent they would be Zell Miller, er, never mind.

15. He's presenting himself as an alternative to the BFEE
Edited on Wed Mar-24-04 11:08 PM by jeanmarc
He'll be running for President soon for sure. And based on his recent history, he has almost as strong a dislike for the Bushes as McCain. They play nice to the Bushes every so often, but they often bear their teeth to these masters.

Speaking of bearing teeth, Richard Ben-Veniste has an almost scary habit of putting out a big smile before he hits you with his hardest questions. After he's done it twice to you, you are conditioned to shit your pants on every smile. I've been under oath before, and this guy is scary.
