William Farish comes out of hiding to blast Clarke
Your reclusive (Bush family friend -- plenty to google about!) Ambassador has totally convinced me that Clarke just made everything up. What I found the most compelling was the following paragraph:

"Groucho Marx was once quoted as saying, "Who are you going to believe? Me or your own eyes?" A glance at President Bush's statements, and his actions, clearly demonstrates that he has given more attention to the threat of terrorism - and done more to defeat it - than any other president. One may like and support President Bush's policies, or take issue with them - but the President's record on terrorism is clear and convincing."

Indeed, how could we all have been so stupid!

I don't recall ever reading an article by Farish so I'd guess that Bush is seriously rattled by this whole story they had to bring him in. The Clarke testimony is getting big coverage over here (2nd leading story to Blair's visit to Libya tmrw) & as with the Independent story on top counter-terrorism spooks nearly quitting (http://news.independent.co.uk/world/americas/story.jsp?story=504776 -- & see report #7 on www.911commission.gov ) our press will no doubt try and break the stuff that isn't taking hold over there.

Anyway, for more Farish:

(incidentally, there was a thread I read earlier on DU about whether it's "Richard Clarke" or "Dick Clarke" & someone noted how Republican's use "Dick" because it belittles him. Anyway -- bear that in mind as you read the article & how Farish refers to Clarke.)

2. OMG! Farish? They brought Farish out?

They ARE desperate.

Farish's granddaddy was busted for doing business with the Nazis in WWII ( 'Union Bank'). He was also Prescott Bush's business partner.

If anyone has a Baker sighting, let us know. Then again, since he's representing the Saudis against the 9/11 families, they might not want him to get too near this particular issue...

edit: speling

3. This is a Whopper.
"A glance at President Bush's statements, and his actions, clearly demonstrates that he has given more attention to the threat of terrorism - and done more to defeat it - than any other president."

Hmmmmm. A question and an observation.

(1) Before or after 9/11?
(2) Since I assume he must be referring to after 9/11, I assume Mr. Farrish realizes that he's been our only President (or in Mr. Bush's case, pResident) since 9/11.
