..I read some negative things about him a few years ago but can't find it now. Might be good to have the goods on him. Anyone?

at least according to several wingnuts. Apparently, in 1996, he took part in an effort to broker a deal with the U.S. and the Sudan in which the Sudanese government would extradite Osama Bin Laden to Saudi Arabia where the U.S. can finally place him under custody.

But the Saudis refused to accept Bin Laden, and Bin Laden was allowed to slip out of the Sudan unmolested
