About Clarke's "background briefing"
Clarke said that he was asked to give a background briefing to defuse a "sensationalized story" in Time Magazine . He admitted that the story was spun but claims that he did not actually deceive the reporters.

be that as it may..........

Just who the #$%%^ asked/ordered him to give that briefing?

Isn't this evidence of the lengths to which the administration will go to obfuscate the real issues? Clarke was a professional staff person and like a good soldier, saluted smartly and charged. But who gave the freaking orders?
