Look at the photos of 9/11 families with Clarke

Former U.S. counter-terrorism coordinator Richard Clarke greets family members of victims of the September 11 attacks following testimony before a national commission investigating the attacks on Capitol Hill March 24, 2004. Clarke, a senior adviser to Bush and the three previous administrations, has accused Bush of paying insufficient attention to the al Qaeda threat before the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and afterward focusing on Iraq (news - web sites) at the expense of efforts to crush the network. it is an incredibly sad moment. Sad because they should never have to be so grateful for the simple truth, they were due that by the bush cabal immediately.

32. Yep, he is doing this from the heart. He has no future ambitions
nothing to gain except to do what he has always done: fight the good fight for its own sake.

PS. Clinton had the good sense to put this guy in a key role to fight terror, Bush marginalized him. The Bush legacy will be one of failure, miserable failure.

and it is dedicated to John O'Neill (the FBI agent who resigned because bush ordered him off the bin Laden/Al Qaeda investigation and who was then hired at a WTC security company where he was killed on his 1st day at work on 911) and all the murdered victims of 911

wonder if the security firm was Securacom, Marvin Bush*s security firm who had the contract on the WTC, United Airlines and Dulles Airport on 9/11?

I can't imagine what the widows have had to endure. It's bad enough losing your spouse, but for everything to be stonewalled and for Rice to not even show up to give a few answers...there are no words.

good God it's so heartbreaking. And here is their greatest hope for the truth- someone far outnumbered by equivicators like Powell and Rice.
Good God.... what should be the norm is a freakish exception.
And that first photo says it all- trying to stand proudly and fighting for composure amidst all this evil.

Here's another angle of that same image up top

21. What a contrast to Bush who hasn't an ounce of warmth in his
coldhearted body.

I think Clarkes words today,,"I failed you" were very telling. He is not doing this for the money, he genuinely knows that Bush and Co. did nothing and feels like he could have pushed them harder.

A man with a conscience, how do the BFEE bastards sleep at night?

my daughter said she thought he was so prepared, so ready, so calm, so completely undaunted today because he knew in his heart, with those 9/11 families sitting behind him, that what he was doing was as right as anything can be in this world.

saying there are no good Republicans! Hear me????

This man is an old-school Republican: a man you can disagree with on policy (Clarke is quite the hawk), but at the end of the day, is a reasonable man who is an American first and doesn't forget it.

Yes, once upon a time there used to be a lot like him.

God knows we need a few more.

Helen Thomas was right when she said that, when there is evil afoot in the government, someone always steps forward and spills the beans. ALWAYS.

She must be one happy gal right now.

54. Thanks, I used to be one of those Republicans. Pro civil-rights,
serious about foreign policy and long term strategy for peace, fiscally responsible, etc.

Sadly, it became apparent under Reagan that the others were gaining control over the party. I stayed "Independent" for years and finally had to admit that the only home for fiscal, social, and foreign policy responsibility was the Democratic Party.

51. By contrast, what is the Bush adm. saying to these families?
How could they let Thompson and Lehman try to tear Clarke apart, for purely political purposes, in front of their eyes? How could they stall investigation into 9/11 when these people deserve answers? They show contempt for these families, yet run a campaign based on the source of their grief.

showing Bush at ground zero. And how about the convention? If this issue has legs (and it should) how will it play with the Pukes strutting around ground zero, each of them saying "Hey, it wasn't our fault!"
