Can anyone guess what I'm talking about?

HINT: It's in the teasers on the right side.

2. You mean Pelosi charged in slaying of multimillionaire?
Edited on Wed Mar-24-04 01:01 PM by nickinSTL
Yeah, makes it sound like the House minority leader was charged with murder.

9. come on...
the guy's name is Pelosi, and at least in NY, he's very widely-known. I live in California and I'm familiar with the story, too.

I never once considered that the headline referred to Nancy Pelosi. What SHOULD the headline have read? "Pelosi (not Nancy) charged in slaying"?

10. Click the story and you see the real headline
Edited on Wed Mar-24-04 02:16 PM by SoCalDem
"Suspect surrenders in financier's slaying"

not nearly as "sexy" as using a name which happens to be the same name as a legislator..

If a guy named Bush killed someone, would the headline read:

"Bush named as killer of....."

11. *shrug*
Right now if you polled New Yorkers, and asked them "who's Pelosi" I bet a helluva lot more of 'em would say Daniel rather than Nancy. Hell, he may be more well-known nationwide than Nancy.

I just don't see an issue here. It certainly isn't "misleading" as was alleged in the original post. It was very very accurate.

12. For a New York venue, I agree...CNN.com however, touts itself
as worldwide.. More people "worldwide" have heard the name Pelosi in regards to congress , than have in regards to a new york celebrity murderer :)

13. I understand what you're saying...
I just don't think it's likely that an executive decision was made at CNN to try to fool people into thinking the House Minority leader had been arrested for murder.

14. I thought you were talking about the Pledge story
Which is misleading to. The Court is not deciding on the Constitutionality of the Pledge itself. The Court is deciding whether or nor children can be Constitutionally coerced into saying it in the classroom. These are two very, very different issues. The un-Constitutional Pledge crap is just repuke spin.
