Where is Kerry?
Why isn't he doing interviews right now? This is only the most freaking important thing going on in the world. Where is the Democratic leadership on this?

3. exactly
why should he get involved? Things are going very poorly for Bush, and it helps Kerry if people perceive it NOT to be due to partisan politics.

8. politicising 9-11 is a huge no no
Bush already got his lumps for the firefighters ad. Kerry doesn't need to go there now. Bush has his own grave to dig out of.

6. I'm talking about the 9/11 hearings. Everyone seems to have an opinion...
well, almost everyone. Seriously, Bush has everyone out spinning. I don't know if he should have said something today, but he certainly has to say more than, "I can't wait to read the book."

11. Another cool thing is that Bush's spinners
are out contradicting not only one another, but also themselves.

Kick back and enjoy!

5. Enjoying his vacation....probably a lot.
If this keeps up, I might suggest he take another week off. Conserve cash and let the media cover the hearings. Much better for the people to process the truth directly.....Kerry's going to gain on Bush this week, no doubt.

7. The Dems are right to let the Repukes have the spotlight
on this topic.

I think the Dems should stand very still for the next few days and let the Repukes be seen for what they are. The WH is starting look like a snakepit. Let the light shine on it fully.

Why should we throw ourselves in front of this train?

No doubt Kerry will swoop in a few days from now and look very competent and statesmanlike, imho.

10. Yeah, probably right.
I guess when you think about it, we can all just sit back and watch everything fall apart. Look at the stock market. Now there is the Israeli/Palestinian situation. Not so good these days. Heck, he could probably take the summer off and come back well-rested.

9. Kerry is doing just fine right where he is...
watching the fireworks, taking notes. Why step in when the competition is doing it's best to self-implode?

12. In politics the more you say the more you have to defend

Quite simply Kerry isn't coming out with anything unless he's 110% sure he can back it up and it hits Bush by surprise and with pain.

Bush's team is shooting in the dark as usual trying to pounce him everywhere they can, and in doing so they're just giving Kerry more ammo as he's (I assume) devising ways to make those statements blow up in Bush's face. At the same time the more desperate Bush gets to knock down Kerry the weaker he looks. Kerry would do well to stick with the attitude that says "let the bum talk, we'll unlease the goods when WE'RE ready on OUR watch."

Best for him to keep quiet and let Bushco hang themselves for now.

16. Tanned, rested, and ready
His timing was genius.

He needs not to talk during this time. He'll pick and choose his spots, but the Administration is looking pretty awful without him thanks to Clarke, a Republican.

That Shrub thought he was going to define Kerry, but instead, he is being defined by his vitriole and the truth.

17. I'm not so sure ...
The only voices out there are the WH attack dogs. The ONLY VOICES. In about another day, the public will be convinced that Clarke is a partisan, disgruntled employee and that 9/11 was his fault! And the Dems, for all their "genius", will discover that it's too late; they've missed their opportunity.

Enjoy that damn vacation, John.

18. I disagree
I have seen Clarke on news and talk-shows galore the past few days, not only defending himself ably, but attacking harder, with more detail, and with more evidence.

Dots are being connected by columnists across the country - O'Neill, Clarke, Woodward. As was pointed out many times on the boards this morning, Rumsfeld, Powell, and Armitage (unwittingly?) corroborated Clarke's version on several points.

The attack dogs are looking like they have worms.

19. Wes Clark has been defending Clarke quite well
and Clarke himself has been doing a good job himself.

I've only seen Clark and a couple others speak forcefully for Clarke.
