Latest AP poll has Bush 46, Kerry 43
Other posters have already commented on how Bush is frozen at 46 percent in so many polls, even with all the ads he's run. Kerry's dropped some (to be expected), but if Bush gets 46 percent in November, he will lose. Didn't Carville predict Kerry would win 53-46?

2. Another way to look at this is to say
54 percent is anti-Bush, because undecideds do not go to the challenger.

3. The article says people see Bush as strong on national security.
That was before this week's revelations. Watch the polls next week. IF they are accurate and accurately reported, the polls will show Bush's approval plummeting.

He just got the rug ripped out from under his feet. The best news is that people will be wary about trusting him again.

4. I'm telling you it was that damned "ski trip." But, no one wants to
listen! It's early yet...much too early to look at polls. Let's see how it all sorts out down the road. :-)'s

6. No it wasn't.
It was not about that. Honestly. There is nothing wrong with skiing. Plenty of people across the country from Vermont to the Pacific coast ski or know people who do ski. Lots of people who don't ski view those who do as macho and brave ("oh wow, I've always wanted to try that but I'm too scared" is a common response I get from my friends who don't ski). What do you want him to do, wrestle an alligator?

Honestly, as someone who learned to ski when he was four these accusations are really starting to get on my nerves.

11. I'm sorry, but the ski trip really bothered me.
I realize that it might be the best way for Kerry to get some needed relaxation, but I wish he had also found some way to convey his empathy for the hell/torment many of us are going through.

5. Bush spent well over $ 10 million and that's the result?
Within the margin of error?

This is going to be a rollercoaster ride, but those aren't any serious bumps...

Cheers to us!

to $2 million for Kerry.

8. No worries people, AP's last poll had roughly the same numbers.
AP polls are Freeped. Besides, check out the Zogby poll <http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=812> Kerry by 2

15. Actually Kerry being away is good
because he stays away from the fray, while the repugs get their butts hung out to dry, if kerry was around it would be more of a distraction. Kerry just needs to have a vision and keep above the fray and he will be fine. Bush's approval rating is what's important also the question of is the country headed in the right direction. That one has been overwhelmingly negative for a while now.

16. Excellent point
With Kerry out of the picture while the 9/11 hearings are going on and the Clarke revelations are erupting, it's all as clear from the campaign as possible. The voters should see this as an independently developing story.

19. I wouldn't say it's necessarily good that he's away.
Because he could be out pounding his message. You are right about him staying out of the Clarke business. He should do nothing to taint Clarke as a Democratic supporter.

The great thing is that the Bushies now must smear Clarke and they have to lessen their slime job on Kerry in the meantime. The other great thing is that once the Clarke revelations take hold, Joe Wilson's book will be coming out. Plamegate will then take center stage for a while. The Bushies will then have to smear Wilson again.

Pretty soon even the thick skulled American public will realize that BushCo's only "defense" is to smear their opponents.

20. Me too.
But things look good in this respect: in 2000, most polls right before the election had Gore down by about 5 or 6% (excepting Zogby). With Kerry down 3 and Nader taking about 5, with assuming that our GOTV drive is as good as it was in 2000, and with assuming that Nader's support will collapse in some ways, our chances look really good. Kerry's running strong in key swing states, and the Blue States are looking more and more secure.
