Dishonesty of RW columnists: mentioning ALREADY DEBUNKED hoaxes as truth
...in the hope they'll sway a reasonable amount of people who never heard about either the hoax or the debunking.

A Brazilian RW nut said a few days ago the Pope personally endorsed Mel Gibson's whipfest. I remembered that as already being debunked. I searched the Net and found those:

http://abcnews.go.com/sections/WNT/World/pope_passion_040122-1.html
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,108948,00.html

Mentioned those in a LTTE. Very non-emotionally. The letter just says, "I regret to inform Mr. So-and-so the mentioned endorsement by the Pope to Mel Gibson's movie never happened. See links."

But, of course, a column reaches much more people than LTTEs. This sucks.

3. Just to keep things in perspective
The columnist in question says the evils of the Inquisition are much exaggerated by anti-Christian propaganda.

I kid you not.

2. Last Night on Charlie Rose Richard Clarke called them Urban Myths
When Charlie Clark repeated the RW mantra that Clinton refused to go after bin Laden, Clarke dismissed that as an urban myth.
