A Question that Needs to be Asked
Did the Republicans weaken our defense against terrorism with their attacks against Bill Clinton in the 1990's ? There is evidence that they accused him of playing politics everytime he tried to get them to support any anti-terrorism effort. They were quick to deride any effort by Clinton to fight terrorism.

Think about it. Former Senators Gary Hart and Warren Rudman passed along a blueprint for fighting terrorism to the Bush White House and they put it in the bottom drawer and told them that VP Cheney would study the need. This was after they worked more than 2 years on the project.

So it must now be asked. While they were going after Clinton, and eventually were able to impeach him, did they put this nation at risk? By "they", I mean the entire Republican Party. Because they all took part in the campaign to bring down Bill Clinton, including the Republican moderates. And the irony is that now they want to run as the "Party to defend America"?

With the assistance of right-wing talk radio hosts and numerous others on mainstream TV, they were able to focus this entire nation on the sex life of the former President. They wallowed and glorified in their partisan expertise. Meanwhile the terrorists were plotting. And at the right moment, when the Republicans were at their most arrogant selves, our nation was attacked. And they want to blame Bill Clinton??

10. YES ... remember "Wag the Dog"
When Clinton bombed Afganistan and the pharmaceutical factory in Sudan,
the Republicans were saying that Clinton was trying to distract from Monica.

2. I think you have a good argument since the Reps don't take any
responsibility for anything.

4. I agree Kentuck. What really ticks me off is
this Republican "fable" that Clinton didn't do anything concerning terrorists, especially the WTC bombing in 1993.

Uh, hello? Ramzi Yousef was responsible for the bombing and Clinton CAUGHT him and he is in jail. Most importantly, however, is the fact that when Clinton caught Yousef, the Clinton administration got into his computer and that is where the name Osama Bin Laden first came up.

These people who say "Clinton didn't do anything" are WRONG.

7. The counter argument
(Not that it's correct) is that Clinton had the wrong approach to terrorism. He believed in fighting terrorism like it was a crime problem, instead of treating it like a war which our current President does.

They say that September 11th proves that treating it like a crime doesn't work, and that obviously proves the necessity of following President Bush's approach. Logically this doesn't hold water; you can't prove the necessity of a specific new approach by documenting the failures of another approach unless there are exactly two ways to fight terrorism. But I figure there are millions of different combinations one could use to fight terrorism.

Of course the dumb one's will also bring up "We were offered Bin Ladin's head in a platter and Clinton didn't take it."

9. The Europeans treat it like a crime problem.
And it is pretty effective for them. They have been handling terrorism longer than we have. We should try to learn something from them.

13. Continuing the Counter Argument
"OH you like those pansy Europeons? Why don't you go live there if you lie it so much. Here in America we do things the American way, not the Belgian way. So there Mister Smarty pants."

Seriously though, suggesting we copy Europes strategy, particularly after 3/11 may not win many arguments

5. Well...
That would mean that the repugs, as a party would have had to put the country's best interests ahead of their own agenda. That will never happen with the reptiles that are leading that party.

8. A refund.
Where's my refund for this stupid ass vendetta of Bill?

I feel that the Republicans are never as interested in the American people as they are of their own party and their wealthy patrons. They are a no shame group and want to make the Middle Class the Working Poor with no Health Care or any sort of safety net. Anyone of the Middle Class, Working Poor &/or Poor that supports Republicans is really in need of information of how they have been and are now being screwed over by Republicans.

12. Most definitely!
All I could think of during the Clinton "investigation" is
Who is running this country?
My god, what a waste of taxpayer's money; all over an "investigation" of what SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATED!
If anyone should have been investigating the situation, it should have been Hillary.
It brought me to an absolute point of really hating the Rebublicans and all of their agenda.
