Richard Lugar - Republican Hero of the Week
Not only was he great on t.v. yesterday, but NPR just did a piece on the Clarke flap and he was interviewed. No spin, no damning the messenger, no mention of Clinton or book deals or any of the other crap being thrown out there. Not even a defense. He just repeated, several times, that it was deeply troubling. I'm a-thinking that he IS indeed very troubled and that he KNOWS Clarke is a straight-up guy.

(This is especially ironic in the face of Joe Lieberass.)

If you feel inclined, send Senator Lugar some encouragement.

2. As a Hoosier
I can tell you, Lugar is a throwback to the good old days, before the Republican party was taken over by rabid rightwingers.

3. Lugar is a good guy
He cares more about our foreign policies, than he does about Dems vs Repubs. He has always been bipartisan & is well respected.

9. Always Liked Senator Lugar
One of the few guys on either side who doesn't play politics with foreign policy. Very respectable guy, even when you disagree with him.

It's sad that his generation is on the way out in the GOP, and the folks taking over are the neoconservatives like Bill Frist and Tom DeLay.

10. Oh my gawd.........
I did not know that! I googled and found out that you are exactly right! And I thought after seeing him on TV yesterday with Biden, he was somewhat of a nice man. Shheeesh. I should have known better. I had no idea that Hagel had any involvement with Diebold. Thanx for enlightening me.

11. THIS IS GREAT! Thanks for the number. Think I'll use it tomorrow!
And if I take my own advice, in my sig line, I can call his office twice.

ANY and ALL republi-CONS who appear to be wavering should ABSOLUTELY be called and encouraged. Bet on it - that they're probably getting flooded with freeper-fryers threatening to ream them a new one. We have to let them know that they're on the correct track.

I remember this happening when the tide was turning during Watergate. Little by little, a republi-CON here and there started to wake up. Hesitantly at first, but later on, more came running.
