Clarke: Wolfowitz believed Laurie Mylroie on Iraq connected to WTC 93
This was mentioned in one of the articles I saw on Clarke tonight - that he mentioned Wolfowitz believed in this authors theories. Well she's an AEI author - and guess what - she cowrote a book with Judith Miller. Also wrote a book last year that the CIA and State Department tried to block Bush's war on terror. What do you DU'ers know about her? Here's her books. Oh, and lookie, lookie who sites the books! Why none other than Wolfie and Perle. And isn't it amazing that the WMD intelligence is now blamed on the CIA and yet Ms. Mylroie argued that the CIA tried to block Bushie going to war against Saddam. Boy this cabal sure tries to have it both ways

The War Against America: Saddam Hussein and the World Trade Center Attacks: A Study of Revenge

Paul Wolfowitz, Deputy Secretary of Defense
"...argues powerfully that the mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing was actually an agent of Iraqi intelligence." --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

Richard N. Perle, Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Policy, 1981-1987
"Move over, Tom Clancy; Laurie Mylroie has written the year's thriller. Based on a thorough examination of the evidence... --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

Book Description

The destruction of the twin towers of the World Trade Center and the attack on the Pentagon -- all within one hour on September 11, 2001 -- demonstrated America's shocking vulnerability to terrorism.

Yet terror had already emerged on America's shores eight years earlier, when the mysterious terrorist mastermind, Ramzi Yousef (arrested after a botched attempt to down a dozen U.S. airlines) bombed the World Trade Center in an attempt to fell the buildings. His attacks were viewed as the harbinger of a new terrorism, carried out by an elusive enemy driven by religious fanaticism to unprecedented hatred of the United States.

But is that perception accurate? A real-life detective story, The War Against America engages the reader in a gripping examination of the evidence regarding Yousef and his terrorism. It reveals the split between New York and Washington that emerged during the investigation and tells a terrifying tale of America left exposed and vulnerable following the mishandling of what was once the most ambitious terrorist attack ever attempted on U.S. soil.

Bush vs. the Beltway : How the CIA and the State Department Tried to Stop the War on Terror

From Publishers Weekly
American Enterprise Institute adjunct fellow Mylroie (coauthor, with Judith Miller, of Saddam Hussein and the Crisis in the Gulf) here contends that the CIA and State Department, motivated by bureaucratic self-interest and a wrong-headed theory of terrorism that focuses on independent terrorist networks rather than terrorist states, have obstructed the investigation into the threat posed by Saddam Hussein's regime. Fortunately, President Bush is "an actual hero" who pushed ahead with the invasion of Iraq despite the intelligence bureaucrats' efforts to undermine him with nay-saying leaks. Mylroie's thesis hinges on her demonstration of a compelling case pointing to Saddam's possession of weapons of mass destruction and sponsorship of Islamic terrorism. Unfortunately, this mainly amounts to a rehash of the Bush Administration rationale for war that has generated so much skepticism. What new information she does offer is usually a matter of suppositions, probabilities and "suggestive leads." Particularly weak is her attempt to link Saddam to the 2001 anthrax attacks, which rests on a few cryptic Iraqi media statements and a process of elimination. As for the failure to find any WMDs in Iraq, she can only speculate that they were hidden, sent abroad or "destroyed in a final, cunning act of revenge." Ostensibly an expose of intelligence failures in the war on terrorism, the book itself offers mostly murky intelligence.

1. intriguing that Perle compares it to fiction

and how appropriate.

Why hasn't Judith Miller experienced a backlash for her bullshit? She should be on the bargain basement book circuit like Blair - not continuing to do Ministry of Truth-style reportage in the NYTimes...

2. And the Bush hagiography continues

Our Wise and Courageous Leader. Another plain-spoken, God-fearing American from the Heartland who has been thwarted by the Washington Bureaucrats in his righteous crusade to bring Patriotism, Morality, and Common Sense back to our blessed Republic!

4. I'm giving this a kick for the day crowd
I think it's an important clue besides the obvious PNAC connections exactly how this administration was thinking. I sure hear a lot of spinning this morning from Rice and kool-aid drinkers on talk radio.

8. Not Quite, But Close
I've seen her on CSPAN a few times. She's a genuine piece of work. Not as shrill and angry as a Coulter or Ingram, but generally an RNC cheerleader. She strikes me as a former Randian who actually believes the nonsense about conservatives making us safer.

She has academic credentials, but her basic premises are on the fringes of logical thought. I'm sure the uni that gave her the Ph.D. is not especially proud of that fact.

& this is an author running with Mylorie's theories & taking McVeigh as far away from Elohim City as possible:

11. I wouldn't believe Mylroie if she told me the sky was blue...
I'd go immediately to the window to check for myself.

Yet another example of reality being thrown by the wayside when it conflicts with ideology among the PNAC crowd. Not really all that surprising.
