27. Los Alamos builds WMD....here are some photos of those tests
all these tests were conducted by Los Alamos Laboratories...in addition, the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were developed at Los Alamos....there is no other business there...it is all WMD....
and the poisons from these tests remain with us today...KILLING....that's all they do at Los Alamos....

32. "That's all they do..."
You are SOOOO out of date. Do you know how old those pictures are???

I said that your ignorance could fill volumes, and you have just proved me correct.

Then you give me plenty of "ammunition" with your "THat's all they do in Los Alamos." IGNORANT!

First off, I really resent you coming into a peace thread, and then attacking someone. THIS IS ABOUT PEACE, GET IT?

I'm so very tired of people who use this forum to get off their anger rocks. Unless and until you can all decide that you want to have a strong DEM party, we're going to turn people away with this kind of nonsense. So, can you just realize that you stepped in it, attacked where you shouldn't have, and have the grace to hold out an olive branch?

Wouldn't that be a tad more in keeping with the spirit of this thread?

I really am tired of not being able to say even something as innocent as "Los Alamos is my hometown" without getting stomped.

PEACE.

Don't leave home without it.

39. it'd be tough to 'pick apart' my city of Washington DC...so many
Edited on Fri Mar-19-04 01:09 AM by amen1234

others have beat you to it....

Los Alamos remains though, the birthplace of the nuclear bomb....and under bush*, plutonium production and testing has started up again at Los Alamos....

too many scientists decided to make MONEY by using their scientific skills in such an inhuman manner....'science without humanity'

Los Alamos is an entire community dedicated to WMD for the past 60 years....and poisoned themselves and their children, because of their own ill-gotten scientific pursuits, and their greed for MONEY....creating the element Plutonium, named after the planet Pluto....a radioactive element that poisons all who touch it....that chemically reacts with all elements, except the nobel gasses....it is both dangerous chemically and dangerous radioactively and dangerous nuclear-ly...the legacy of that creation is to poison all who touch it and KILL people forever, the KILLING never stops....and no place to put the poison, now that it is created....the W.I.P.P. site, the Nevada test site, nobody wants it....

here is what scientists from Los Alamos did:

Herb Lehr holding the assembled plutonium core for the world's first atomic bomb in a special shock-absorbing case. The core was about the size of an orange and weighed some 13.5 pounds (6.1 kilograms).
Sold his soul to the Devil....1945...

The Mike Test...1952..vaporized an entire island...

OUR Troops exposed to cancer-causing radiation...the Dog Test, November 1, 1951, Human radiation experiments...

51. You're missing the point, I think
Just because the poster lives in Los Alamos doesn't mean s/he is responsible for all the above any more than you are for living in the city where the plans were made in the first place.

There's plenty to bash about my own hometown, too.

I think almost everyone on this board knows about what happened in Los Alamos. Last time I checked, J. Robert Oppenheimer was still dead.

Peace.

45. Thanks, Stevie!
I appreciate the support.

I know I should ignore this type of crap, but I'm getting so tired of not being able to say ANYTHING, even in a PEACE thread, without being attacked.

There are so many people in Los Alamos who have been working for peace for a lot of years, and to dismiss them all in this manner is definitely shooting ourselves in our big, flat feet.

Thanks again!

48. spending TRILLIONS of dollars on nuclear bombs does nothing
Edited on Fri Mar-19-04 10:32 AM by amen1234
for PEACE in the world....it is truly part of the problem, when educated scientists decide to use their talents to KILL massive numbers of innocent people....'science without humanity' is one of the cardinal sins....

those scientists are bought and paid for with VERY HIGH salaries, because it costs so much to buy people's souls....for Los Alamos scientists, it's always been about money....isolated from the poverty surrounding them, those scientists wallow in a much much much higher economic level than their neighbors, who suffer from highly toxic pollution, streaming off Los Alamos in all directions...

if every scientist refused to participate in this horror, refused to line their pockets with $$$$$ for KILLING masses of innocents, refused to use science without humanity....this nuclear madness could be stopped....the world would be a better place, and PEACE would be upon us.....

"If I would have known what they would do with my work, I would have become a peddler or a plumber."
Albert Einstein
(who did not participate in the creation of the nuclear bomb, and wrote of the immorality of such an act - Einstein grieved because Los Alamos scientists used his theories to create a nuclear horror show and refused to listen to PEACEMAKERS....Los Alamos scientists released a nuclear horror that continues to POISON Americans today, and still costs TRILLIONS of dollars for ongoing environmental cleanup, and was used to KILL and maim hundreds of thousands of INNOCENT CIVILIANS.).....

Leo Szilard was one of a very few "scientists of conscience" who worked at Los Alamos, but quit, and spent the rest of his life trying to stop the use of nuclear bombs, and fighting for peace. At that time, scientists did not yet realize, yet today, scientists KNOW and they work at Los Alamos for the MONEY.

Link to an interview with Dr. Leo Szilard in U.S. News and World Report. He spoke about the MONEY.
http://www.peak.org/~danneng/decision/usnews.html

Q Would a United States Government today, confronted with the same set of choices and approximately the same degree of military intelligence, reach a different decision as to using the first A-bomb?

A I think it depends on the person of the President. Truman did not understand what was involved. You can see that from the language he used. Truman announced the bombing of Hiroshima while he was at sea coming back from Potsdam, and his announcement contained the phrase - I quote from the New York "Times" of August 7, 1945: "We have spent 2 billion dollars on the greatest scientific gamble in history - and won."

To put the atomic bomb in terms of having gambled 2 billion dollars and having "won" offended my sense of proportions, and I concluded at that time that Truman did not understand at all what was involved.

---------------------------------------
and a question: Are you living in beautiful, expensive, luxurious Evergreen Colorado as a beneficiary of MONEY from Los Alamos? Is that why these facts bother you so much?

It pleases me a LOT to know that others have explained the shameful legacy of Los Alamos to you. It shows the progress that Peace activists are making. All people affiliated with Los Alamos should be very very ashamed. Those with blood on their hands should rightfully return their ill-gotten MONEY to their victims.

33. Considered going in Atlanta
but the flyers circulating have an anti-Israel slant to them. I can't deal with that. Not cool.

Spiritual Walk for Peace
Saturday, March 20th 2004
Oklahoma City, OK USA

On Saturday, March 20, people of all faiths will gather once again for a silent walk around the Alfred P. Murrah Building site in downtown Oklahoma City. We will join gatherings around the world to mark the date of the U.S. invasion of Iraq one year ago. The walk will be an expression of hope for justice and healing in that war-torn nation. The walk will begin at 12:00 noon at the Episcopal Center, NW 9th & Robinson in downtown Oklahoma City, and will proceed around the Murrah Building site, returning to the Episcopal Center. Representatives of many faiths and conscience groups will speak briefly before and after the Walk. We invite the public to join this Silent Walk for Peace.

"By circling the Murrah Building site, we bring to mind our own grief, and we reach out in compassion to those who have suffered in Iraq." --Rev. John Vrana, Peacewalk Planner
