Maybe on the off chance they burst into a safe house or something and caught him in dead sleep.. which is so unlikely because of the 24/7 guard he is sure to have around him at all times...

Either that or when the chips finally fall, suddenly he soils his robe with the only bit of 'jihad' he's got left and changes his mind..

I have heard that his closest guards have orders to shoot him themselves if he is about to be caught, not sure if that's true...
