Larry David, Curb Your Enthusiasm
Larry David rules supreme!

Has anyone else had the good fortune to catch Larry David’s new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO? While it can be loud, and dry at times, it has quickly become my favorite new comedy on TV; Simpies still own my heart, although I feel guilty about watching FOX.

Anywho, during the most recent episode of CYE, Larry lands the lead of the Broadway musical, The Producers. He pretends to suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder, in order to bed the hot co-start of The Producers. She “also” suffers from ODC.

Larry pretends to have OCD. Mel Brooks and the cast of the Producers are concerned and begin to think that he is nuts. Larry David is pretending the whole time, in order to impress the lead lady, whom really does suffer from OCD.

On opening night, he finally gets the chance to bed the leading lady. As things start to get hot and heavy, he notices a framed picture of pResident George Bush in her dressing room. He is so repulsed that he leaves her on the spot! LOL.

Any other DU’ers find this series to be worthy of viewing?

1. LuV CYE!
I have to watch this last episode. I have HBO on demand, I'll catch it tomorrow night. What about last week when he brought the sheet with a hole in it! I'm still laughing over that one.

3. I avoided this show like the plague then I caught an episode after
Sex in the City and felt like the utter dumbass I am.

The episode where he gets his dad to try medical marijuana was hilarious.

It highly recommend it now.

4. Yes, Im a late convert. I did not like it at first
It was too real for me, but i've caught a number of episodes recently and had more appreciation for it when I found out alot of it is improvised. The Bush thing was funny.

6. Funny, but I started to enjoy the show more once I found out it was
improvised too! I liked it before, but when I found out that it was largely improvised, it became much more interesting and amusing to me. Some of the sketches fall a little short, but some are so funny I bust a gut!!

Could you imagine being friends with or married to someone like Larry?

17. I don't know why his patient wife in the series endures him...
I would have clocked him over the head with a frying pan long ago.

11. Okay, dammit...time to change the screen name
1. Yes, that episode was damn funny. Larry gets mixed up in drugs and prostitution on his way to the baseball game!

2. NO, it was a quick thought screen name when I was on a "water diet" (2-3 gals a day). Lost 60 lbs in 6 months!

3. THC IS NOT PHYSICALLY ADDICTIVE!!!! ARRGGGHHH!!!

9. Larry David...
is probably the sharpest comedy mind out there(Daily Show writers are
smooth also)but for my money Larry gets the job done consistently.
The X-Mas show where he gets into a skirmish with Mary's Joesph is
outstanding.

22. one of the funniest moments ever
on TV. "I thought it was a zoo." That entire episode was hysterical...ending with Larry on the ground wrestling with Joseph right as Sharyl and family get out of the car.

32. That's my favorite too. Wife Cheryl: "You ATE the Baby Jesus! You destroyed...
... our Manger Scene!"

Larry: "I thought they were animal crackers--I thought He was a monkey!"

I just love the way Larry David goes after subjects you'd think were too controversial to touch--such as holiday excesses or political correctness. There's usually lots of witty dialog from many different odd angles. Then everything comes together in a hysterical sight gag during the last few minutes of the show.

10. I didn't see all the epidodes this year, but it was a gangabuster season
The "Survivor" episode was especially funny. He'll poke fun at anything without being flat out insensitive and banal. "Someone get him a sponge" and giving up a chance for anniversity sex because "You're a republican?" are a couple of my favorite lines this year.

18. I love the show....
...it's my favorite since my former favorite "Seinfeld" ended. The "survivor" show was especially funny. Larry David is the only person who can make fun of the halocaust and 9/11* without being irreverent.

12. In the UK, we're only upto series 2
but I absolutely love it. Best US comedy since Seinfeld & Larry David is just wonderful. (plus I'm absolutely in love with Cheryl!)

Unfortunately, BBC is doing what it did with Seinfeld & Larry Saunders -- showing it at stupid times (past 11pm) when its on terrestrial so not that many people over here have seen it :( .

When Ben Stiller (sp?) was driving him around in the back seat of his car..."Let me drive the big baby around, OH....baby want his bottle!" I almost wet myself from laughing so hard.

19. "Curb" is really superior.
This latest "season" (what was it, 10 episodes? I feel robbed!) wasn't quite as good as the previous seasons, but I still wouldn't miss it.

Fox's "Arrested Development" is the other great, inventive comedy in production right now. It's very quick paced and witty.

23. ok . . . who here would want Larry David as a neighbor? . . .
the show is great, but I have to think that there's a least SOME truth to Larry's character . . . just how much I don't know, but I'm not sure I'd want him next door . . . :)

25. I've seen that episode twice now.
And would have to concur that if some women that I was about to get intimate with had a picture of Bush on her night stand and it turns out that she was a repub, I too would lose my woody.

of course it would never get that far in the first place because with my politics would be made known almost first thing.

26. Try FAMILY BUSINESS on Showtime -- also hilarious!
I've started to really get into Larry David -- it took awhile, but he is funny!

Another show hubby and i enjoy is "Family Business", about a REAL family (a reality/docu show) about a family, (mom, son, and cousin) of pornographers. It's pretty racy, but the underlying premise -- that, yes, even pornographers have family values -- is pretty intriguing!

The show is about a real pornographer named Adam Glasser, aka "Seymore Butts." Yep, you can actually find his videos for sale. My UK friends tell me that the show's a hit over there, too, but under a different title.

27. Best of all, LD is a Dem
That's why we watch it...because we're finding it harder and harder to sit through shows with actors whose politics are in opposition to ours. The Bush moment was the highlight of the season, for that reason.

34. Sykes makes an appearance in one of the last few episodes...
... of this most recent season.

She does more or less the same bit she did in a lot of the other episodes... That is, happening upon the hapless David doing something that makes him seem like a racist.
