Josh Marshall's important point on Bushco's campaign lies.
He is talking about the latest ad, in which they say that Kerry opposes military pay raises.

They simply can't stop lying.

That point should be hit again and again and again. And not simply -- or even primarily -- on the narrow point of dishonesty but on the broader issue of disrespect for the people they're communicating with.

'Disrespect' doesn't quite convey the intended message. But it comes close. It may be closer to 'contempt' though I think the attitude is somehow breezier than that. They don't think any rules apply to them.

They want to say up is down. And they're sure they can get away with it because they think the people who are listening are either chumps or that their trust can be exploited endlessly.

I think this idea of their contempt for the audience, the voter -- the chump -- is central to the whole thing. I don't know if this can ever be made a campaign issue, but there must be some way to bring it out into the open.

2. Josh forgot to mention that the corporate "news" media, especially TV,
REFUSES to expose Bu$h as an inveterate, serial liar.

Instead, they accept his lies as the gospel truth, and spread the lies.

Yes, we have a totalitarian Media that intends to destroy democracy!

He needs to leave that "remote mike" on a lot more! :D

And he needs to emphasize the broader concept--that these idiots don't just DISLIKE you when you don't agree with them, they HATE you with almost mortal contempt...and their hatred is exceeded only by their lust for RETRIBUTION!

We--not just Sen. Kerry--have to work to tell the REAL truth about the basic contempt in which Dub & Co. hold the American people--those who don't bow-and-scrape to them, that is. It is a signature attitude of theirs, one that defines their desire to rule and not govern, and one which, above all else, disqualifies them to squat in the White House for another term. Dub summed it up best himself--unbelievably, yes--when he told Diane Sawyer in response to a question about his claim Iraq had WMDs: "What difference does it make?" Apparently, to Dub, and to everybody else in his cabal, it makes NO difference whether or not they EVER tell us the truth--on ANYTHING! x(

B-)
