Matthews said on Imus, the Chimp will give speech to"attack/kill Kerry "
Edited on Wed Mar-17-04 01:35 PM by KoKo01
today from the quote. Matthews: "Bush will give a speech from spiritual home of the Repug. Party, the Reagan Library today." Matthews used the words:"...speech that will "attack, kill Kerry."

I think the speech was scheduled for l:00 est. I wonder if it will be cancelled given the devastation in Baghdad with the car bombing of the "Lebanon Hotel."

Matthews should be taken off the air for using the word kill, imho. Couldn't that be taken as a threat against a Presidential Candidate. He was foaming at the mouth about Kerry and it was disgusting to listen to, but I wanted to catch it to see what the spin was going to be. Imus let him rave on without saying much. Maybe he supported Kerry later on in the show, but I turned it off because the comment made me sick.

This kind of rhetoric given the climate of fear and chaos we live in shouldn't be allowed. Words can be weapons and Matthews shouldn't get away with it.

Maybe if some of you heard it, you could alert the Kerry Campaign about this? Or maybe folks think it's not worth worrying about and it would be "censorship" to stop folks using "kill" when referring to campaign tactics. If someone used it against Bush I would think the Justice Dept. would be after them...but given that Matthews acts like he works for Asscroft I suppose he never has to worry about whatever he says. :grr:

13. Yes, he wanted to be speechwriter for the Big Dog but didn't get the job.
That's why he hates the Clintons.

Believe me, if there was more money in hating republicans, he would be hating republicans.

Remember, there are two types of neo-cons--those that have absolutely nothing and blame liberals and minorities for it, and those that have everything and will do whatever they can to keep it that way. Tools like Mathews are just a means to keep the former happily being bent over by the latter.

2. Tweety seems to get a little too much of a charge
out of the Chimp's macho posturing. He cozies up to * when he sees what he likes – tight jeans, tough talk, and the whole Connecticut Cowboy act.

3. I agree it's totally inappropriate
I'm sure the FBI monitors this website looking for that kind of language against Bush.

18. I'm not sure about the FBI
anyone who spends a bit of time here knows it is self-policed and that no threatening language is allowed. It should be well known to anyone monitoring DU that such behavior is NOT tolerated. I have no doubt, however, that right wingnut groups monitor us.

4. A repub can say kill democrats (coultier), but a nipple is bad
Madona and Britney can kiss on MTV and no problem, but two guys cause a constitutional ammindment. Ann Coultier said "They should take all liberals and democrats out into the street and shoot them in the head, so people would show support for the president". But a Dem cannot ask for simple proof of the war, energy, environment and so on!

11. He said Bush's speech from the Reagan Library today would "attack, kill
Kerry." It was supposed to represent Matthew's interpretation from his "sources' of the Bush's magnificent Campaign Kickoff of going on the offensive against Kerry.

9. uh, Cheney is giving that speech
IIRC

and, also IIRC, it was going to attack the Kerry records point by point by point point by point by point point by point by point point by point by point point by point by point...

so much shit that no comprehensive comeback will be possible from the Kerrey camp via the corporatewhoremedia.

of course, Kerrey's speech was pre-empted by a perfectly timed major blast in Baghdad... hmm.....

They just showed clips of both speeches split screen with Cheney and
buildings burning then Kerry with buildings burning in Iraq. I didn't catch what Cheney said but CNN scroll said "Kerry Ungrateful,"

And, then Kerry's speech was something about "Some had warned that you could successfully Invade Iraq but that keeping the peace would be difficult without more troops. He said he proposes adding (I think) 45,000 troops so that we don't have to use our National Guard in deployments around the world."

Then they cut it. But, they said they would have more of Cheney later.:eyes:

16. Cheney is giving the speech while video is coming in from Bagdad
about the hotel being destroyed with 27 dead.

You would think he might have postponed the speech, if only because what he says about Kerry is going to be pushed off the front page by the bombing story, complete with gruesome photographs. I am beginning to think that karma really is biting Bush and Cheney bigtime.

19. Exactly. He looks like the monster he is giving a political speech while
his "Liberation Project in Iraq" is in flames! Worst picture he could have except for his RW followers who "get off" on that kind of destruction. :grr:

21. Not to be a Tweety apologist but...
if he's got some insider info that * is about to lauch a nasty attack on Kerry, saying what he did isn't really saying what his preference is. I think he liked Dean better than Kerry and is going to show Kerry less preference. In other words, if he knew Kerry had a big, nasty speech planned someday he wouldn've gone on Imus and said the same thing, just regarding Kerry.
