My future Brother in Law said Bush showed restraint
his reasoning waas thus: We were attacked on 9/11 therefore BUSH WAS WITHIN HIS RIGHTS TO WIPE 45% OF THE POPULATION OFF THE MAP. I stopped talking at this point but me fiance couldn't walk away. He was firm in his conviction and said he has many friends who agree with him. He said he was proud that Bush held back and showed mercy.

I'm still not over this. Never talk politics with married family!

1. Lordy
You're going to have some very interesting holiday dinners unless you make politics a taboo subject.

I have no tolerance for ignorance and heartlessness.

7. You shouldn't stop engaging him
because then he'll think he won. He'll be convinced that you don't argue with him because he is right.

For example, you should ask him if Smirk was right to let bin Laden get away. Was that what he meant to do when he was "showing restraint"? And if he was "showing restraint" when he let relatives of bin Laden leave the country without being questioned. Or if fighting the formation of a commission to examine the greatest security failure in US history and then stonewalling that same commission is "showing restraint".

Also, point out that "wiping out 45% of the population" would throw the world into such turmoil that we (fat happy Americans) can't even imagine. Ask him if that really is the answer. Or if he is religious, ask him what his religion says about vendettas and murder. Chances are he claims to be a Christian. If he believes in Jesus you can tell him that He wouldn't want anyone to be killed.

3. Considering the fact that Perle & the PNAC advocate total war in their
efforts to build an American empire, one could almost argue that's true, if not for the fact that Chimpy is indeed pursuing that path, just not as fast as some of the profit-hungry, power-mad neocons would like...

4. Well comparatively Bush looks OK
I mean compared to the butchers Perle and Wolfowitz even Bush looks like Mother Theresa.

6. We were attacked by 19 people....who died during the attack.
So revenge doesn't seem to be an option. Oh, I know, let's kill a bunch of people who had the same skin color as the attackers! And who come from a similar geographic area! Yeah!

Your brother in law advocated killing 19 million for the acts of 19? Pretty un-brilliant, I'd say.

10. yeah - he's not that bright
I don't see how I can engage someone who is that f-ed up. If he thinks he's right because I don't argue - so be it.

discussions with my father, who is an ultra-libertarian free market economist, are similarly frustrating. OK, he doesn't like Bush, but to hear him talk the solution to all problems in the third world is to eliminate tarriffs. I have now given up talking politics with my family full stop...

13. Yes, why not 46%? Is that too much? Is 44% too few?
Gosh, I only wish that I could "know" complicated things so precisely.

no matter how you slice it. 39% would probably be ok though.
Maybe you will be lucky and only end up with this one flying ditto-monkey brother-in-law.

15. What a dumbass...
Violence is wrong.

But violence begats moreviolence, who needs a religious text to say that?

Mercy? My ass!

Show him mercy by castrating him. He shouldn't have children... with peak oil coming, if not anything even more horrific (such as nukes that * would looooooooove to use, no doubt), any children are not going to like our generation, particularly with the continual dumb things * does (tax incentives for SUVs and other wasting of resources.)

16. My Brother in Law sent me a email circulating about Kerry
being a bad American because he protesteth the war after he was a hero fighting it. It had a photoshopped pic of him and Fonda. I wrote back and told him he was being duped by propaganda. He and I are usually pretty cordial but Im wondering if our different ideology might put that to rest. I have a hard time seperating my politics with my personal life. I hold a grudge against any Republican including two of my brothers . Now I find out my BIL is a fkin repig and its pissin me off.

26. Join Kerry's Army of Truth-Tellers
Just tell the truth about anything you have learned here. Don't let a bullies' lies stand unanswered. A couple sentences will be fine. Hold some fire for the dumb ones who try to keep it up. If they keep it up give them a couple more truth sentences from your DU ammo rack.

Don't let them make you shut up. The terrorists win if we shut up.

They tell a lie about Kerry. You tell the truth about Bush.

17. Likewise

I recently had a conversation with my wife's uncle. He had a lot to say about the terrorist mastermind "Ben Aladdin."

That should tell you how well-informed he is.

I have decided to stop letting retards get away with dittoeing Rush, bush and Cheny. If I hear their crap, I call them on it.

21. I've heard this type of claim, also
It's really sick. I'd ask your brother-in-law, so if * had decided to bomb N. Ireland, a country that, like Iraq, had nothing to do with 9/11, would you have applauded the decision? After all, according to your brother-in-law, * had the right to take out 45% of the world's population, so by only wiping out N. Ireland, * would have shown "restraint" and merited our praise. The fact that N. Ireland had no connection to 9/11 would have been meaningless. It's the "restraint," not the culpability, that your brother-in-law apparently finds so admirable.

Of course, that's ridiculous. It shows that what your brother-in-law really meant--* had the right to bomb any foreign country with "dark-skinned" Arab citizens.
