House of Bush, House of Saud - Must Read - Pass on to Repubs
Edited on Wed Mar-17-04 02:44 AM by rmpalmer
Only reason I didn't buy was I had already ordered online. I'm hoping it will show up today.

I read the chapters before 9/11 and after. Probably nothing new that a well-read DU'er doesn't already know but may be more fleshed out. The Saudis have bunnypants wrapped around their little finger. One incident is Bandar got pissed at * right before 9-11 because of *'s embracing Sharon over the Palestinians. Earlier with * at his side Poppy 41 called the Saudis to apologize his boy didn't really mean it. And then right before 9-11 Bandar gave Condi an earful telling her that he considered they(Bushies) were from Uruguay, he was from Saudi and Saudis were going to wash their hands of the US and look to their own affairs. * wrote them a 2 page apology for neglecting the Palestinians. It was so good the Saudis invited Arafat to Riyadh to read it.

The author says one of the leading Saudis considered * to be goofy, and they thought him a lightweight. Part of it they blamed on Condi for her lack of knowledge on the Middle East.

The book covers very well that Clinton had planned and even bankrolled to the tune of several hundred thousand military strikes against Bin Laden, Al Qaida and maybe even the Taliban. He was ready to fund the Northern Alliance. But 5 Supreme Court justices stopped that plan (made me think those 5 have a lot of blood on their hands).

It hints that one reason the 9-11 attackers got through security was that the Bush Admin lightened security as a payback for Muslim leaders garnering votes for him. And that a couple of these leaders had direct ties back to terrorists. It also mentions his administration implementing the Visa-Express program in only Saudi Arabia and that 3 of the hijackers got through that way.

There's a lot of info from Richard Clarke who directed the anti-terrorism efforts for 41, Clinton and 43(if Clarke goes in depth in his book it's going to be a barn-burner). It's an indepth report of how lax the Bushies were even though Clarke was nearly putting his head through a wall trying to warn them and was cancelling vacations, while * was the most vacationing president ever. The 8-6 PDB is covered and the author says it was titled something like Al Qaida Intend to Attack In US. All the info on warning of airplanes being hijacked and used as weapons is covered.

The Saudi flyout immediately after 9-11 is extensively covered.

This is one you need to read. And this is one you need to pass on to your Republican family and friends if they're not kool-aid drinkers. If you know any Jewish-Americans who plan on voting for * you might want to give them this one as well. I think their blood pressure will go through the roof.

1. There are no Jewish-Americans
There are American Jews. I will not be a hyphenated American!!!

Rant over.

Sounds like a good book. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

7. Worry not.
I'm cool. I just can't understand for the life of me why the Jewish community (or maybe it's everybody) has turned the word "Jew" into a bad word. Just because too many in the past have put bad words in front of it doesn't make Jew a bad word used in a respectful context. We're letting other people define us by allowing "Jew" to be offensive.

10. Nobody should be hyphenated.
I just had this conversation with my husband the other day. He's Black and was going through the litany of all the names he's been asked to call himself over the years. Negro. Colored. Black. African-American. I said we'll know we've made it as a country when everybody just calls themselves "Americans." He said, "You mean like we did on 9/11?" That thought brought the conversation around to Will Smith's movie, "Independence Day," when all the people of the earth were united as one people. Remember when we were being attacked by the aliens? People on every side of the globe united against a common enemy. Too bad, we have to be threatened into realizing we are all in this together.

Anyway, I don't like hyphens, but I've never had to wear one, so who am I to say? End of my rant.

16. Hyphens are popular...
Edited on Wed Mar-17-04 12:07 PM by tjwash
...because we are a relatively young country. Because we are comprised mostly of immigrants, people try to relate with the cultures of where their ancesters arrived from. The problem is, the word "American", without the hyphen, has, in recent years, been hijacked by the Limbaugh's and Hannity's of the world to be redifined by people now as "jingo spouting jerk cowboy who believes in bombing first, and asking questions later".

Thus the hyphens.

I've noticed him a lot on ABC news programs this past week.

Hopefully * ends up on the defensive again.

15. I think this is why there all the
"Clinton's fault" (or the ultra-perverse "Kerry's fault") stories doing the RW rounds.

OTOH, the timing -- with Bush due to appear at the 9-11 commission -- is fantastic.

17. Great reportage, RMP!
"The Saudis have bunnypants wrapped around their little finger. One incident is Bandar got pissed at * right before 9-11 because of *'s embracing Sharon over the Palestinians. Earlier with * at his side Poppy 41 called the Saudis to apologize his boy didn't really mean it."

Oh boy. This is great. The pretzeldunce needs Poppy to keep his unctuous pals on-spigot.

Much obliged for your great synopsis, rmpalmer!

This tome is another must-have!

Down with the BFEE!

22. This explains giving in to the Al Qaeda demand...
...that American troops get out of sacred Muslim territory in Saudi Arabia. (The USA is now based in Qatar) Our profane presence put TOO much pressure on the dictatorship we strategically support!

Lots to read in Kevin Phillips book too -- guess who stood on the balcony of the West Wing and smoked a solemn cigar with His Chimperial Majesty on the night of Sept 11 2001 -- Prince "Bandar Bush."

Another coincidence, surely.
