1. Evans is a thirty-odd year friend of Bush....
That pretty much says it all. His wife used to do Bush's laundry in Midland, because he was too good to go to the laundromat himself....

4. I'm sure the job was a bribe ...
Bush was scared that Evans would spill some more stories about his incompetence, even worse than the near-crash in the Cessna.

http://www.seanet.com/~johnco/bush102.htm

"Evans said he'd love to go flying. At the airport he watched Bush stare at the controls, at the panel, and he realized that Bush-though not admitting it-had no idea how to fly the thing properly. After finally figuring out how to launch the plane, Bush pushed the Cessna hard down the runway. Evans screamed, "Give it some gas!" The Cessna's warning system was blinking and crackling. Bush tried to lift his craft fast, almost as if he were piloting a jet back in the Texas Air National Guard. The plane wobbled into the air, and the unsubtle maneuvering threatened to shove it into a stall."

3. I remember
watching an interview with him within the last two weeks, and his answers weren't tracking the questions at all.

It was the biggest pile of mumble-jumble I've ever heard, and it didn't make a lick of sense.

For a good laugh, look up how Al Franken trapped him into saying he didn't know what the hell (so to speak) they had studied in their men's Bible group that morning.

5. Every time I see Evans on the idiot box
I think, "It's easy to see why he and Shithead are buds...they're cut from the same stupid cloth." You'd think that as incompetent and uninspiring as Evans is, they'd keep the guy under wraps, but no, they trot him out to blather on the same way they do Dubya.
