Take Bush's strongest issue and attack him there .....
Edited on Sun Mar-14-04 02:21 PM by kentuck
Make him defend his perceived "strengths". In Bush's case, that would be his handling of the Iraq War and the war on "Terrorism". Since the Repubs wish to make those two wars one and the same, they cannot defend one and discount the other. That is why they are weaker on the war on terrorism than they may think.

The Democrats could rationally argue that we could have won this war on terrorism in Afghanistan, with the capture of Osama and the total dismantling of the Taliban. This would have sent a powerful message to the "terrorists" and to the rest of the world. But Bush decided for a unilateral invasion of Iraq and to take out the old man in the hole, Saddam Hussein. This may turn out to be one of our nations greatest military blunders?

1. "If * hadn't lied and distracted us with Iraq, we could have had
OBL a year to 18 months sooner"

That's what the Dems should say.

3. John Kerry & the Dems
need to go after Bush on his War on Terror.

You're right, this is their biggest strength. I guess because we haven't been hit again. But Al Qaeda will hit us when they're good & ready. If they can't use planes, they'll choose something else.

6. I agree.. Bush*co only THINKS that is a strong issue....
If Kerry and other Dems would buckle down and hit him over the under and non-funding of first responders, the distraction created by Iraq that took the heat off of OBL, resurrect his statements about the founding of the Dept of Homeland Security, the unchecked cargo entering the country...

Bush has done nothing but talk and feed his cronies and the other rich. Expose him before another terrorist attack and it makes him look like he REALLY is.... weak on protecting the lives and liberties of U.S. citizens.

7. Nuclear issues can play into this:

Between Rummy serving on ABBs board when it contracted with NKorea for nuclear parts, the Administration being in bed with Pakistan while Pakistan trashes proliferation, the Administration's push for "bunker-busters" and opposition to arms control etc. See also today (Sun) NYT editorial on the failure to contain research reactor fissile material. There are a lot of scary failures in this realm.

9. Absolutely!
The corporate media and the until recently cowering Dems have given him a free ride on the WOT. The situation is now worse than before and the country less safe. He did nothing immediately post 9-11 that any president would not have done. In fact he did some things a great leader wouldn't have done. Since then, he's burning out our military, he's bankrupting the country to pay for it, and he's lied to get his way.

He's vulnerable. Big Time!
