Edited on Sat Mar-13-04 10:02 PM by amen1234

be a hero in today's bush* horror show...save a life...with just a simple phone call...

When you see someone sleeping in the street, and the temperature is below fifty degrees, please call hypothermia hotline.
The number is 1-800-535-7252.

It is an 800 number because you can call it free from any pay phone.

bush* Amerikkka, just a few blocks outside the White House...

1. Thanks Amen, are you the one connected to the
Kensington Welfare/homeless advocates? I visited that site and was instantly impressed. These are the type of issues that interest me. I don't live where it's that cold but I take the time to talk to the "houseless" folks...they have a lot of info as to what's going on.

I clean out my closets and give it to THEM instead of Goodwill etc.

There is so much to do and no one seems to care. :(

3. honored to have STOOD UP and joined the DC March with the poor
Edited on Sat Mar-13-04 11:27 PM by amen1234

all of us are just a few steps from their shoes....

I was very glad that I joined the poor in a NO Permits and no holds barred march on the Capital...on the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I have a dream" speech....the best march I ever participated in...I am not poor, but it moved me greatly to join such a great group of people...we marched and sang and cheered and smiled together....we set up "BUSHVILLE on the National Mall" and were arrested for insulting bush*....

web site for America's poor....YOU too can join and help....
http://www.kwru.org/

and more photos and video (on left side, part way down page) here...
http://www.sinkers.org/poorpeoplesmarchAug2303/index.html

17 people arrested for setting up 'bushville' on the National Mall and publically embarrassing bush* for creating so much misery, throwing millions out of work...no food, no jobs, no homes, no healthcare....bushville...on the Mall for all to see...

"There are millions of poor people in this country who have very little, or even nothing, to lose. If they can be helped to take action together, they will do so with a freedom and a power that will be a new and unsettling force in our complacent national life..."
--Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., "The Trumpet of Conscience", 1967

2. this shit pisses me off.
...excuse my French, but this country should not tolerate homelessness and people freezing to death because they cant get shelter.

Goddamnit already...if we are so great & strong the least we can do is take care of the least of our brothers.

4. 60% of DC homeless are OUR Veterans....right in front of bush*
Edited on Sat Mar-13-04 10:56 PM by amen1234
it is truly a nightmare that won't stop....and OUR troops returning form Afganistan, Iraq, Columbia, and Haiti can expect similar treatment as long as bush* remains squatting in the WH....

here in Metro DC, we are overwhelmed and disgusted by bush* and his policies....

it is shameful to all of America....

but while we work to vote in Kerry...please use the number to call if you come to DC, and see homeless people freezing...it's been cold here lately and too many have DIED under bush* Amerikkka....

BE A HERO....in DC, call the hypothermia hotline.
The number is 1-800-535-7252. Free from any payphone...
