5. I met Granny D
last Sunday, when she spoke in Wakefield, NH. It was a thrill to meet her. She gave a wonderful speech.

There were a boatload of Kucinich people there - they're invading northern NH!!

14. Hi there.
You were right about Levin. According to what I read on DU, Rumsfeld was toast when Levin got through with him.

"KUCINICH IS A KEEPER!!"

11. Proven backbone?
Dennis Kucinich: best on the issues, proven backbone, and a clear voice. Vote for the future you really want in 2004—it might be your last chance!

Flip-flops on the abortion issue and votes to outlaw flag-burning to make himself more electable. Yeah, that's backbone, alright.

18. Isn't it funny
Edited on Wed Jul-09-03 01:56 PM by Augspies
That the people who bash Kucinich for being unelectable because of his progressive platform (and his looks), then say he is trying to make himself more electable by taking a vote on something that to most progressive liberals is anathema; because, right now that is what counts for the primaries.

Sounds to me like he is voting his heart and not bowing to political whims.

Also I'll ask you the same question I asked someone else: "Would you vote for Robert Byrd if he were to run?"

13. Judging by the venom and sour grapes on Kucinich threads lately...
I'd say things are moving along nicely. :)

Thanks for the thread, Mairead.

I would still like it more if we could all just mind our own business if we can't get along, but I'm OK with the indicators too.

16. Wow neat endorsements....
A good guy, from all I've seen of him on the debates. Dean, however, has the endorsement of thousands of people who have been craving for someone to stand up to the Bush administration with a proven record of doing what he says he will do. Dean has the true grassroots movement.

19. Teacher4dean. A question
I don't mean to jump on you here but could you point me to Dean's endorsement list? Thousands of people also support Kerry, and Lieberman, and Sharpton, and Gephardt.

Oh yes, and thousands of people also have given their endorsement to Kucinich people who are craving a new kind of politics a new way of approaching the problems of the world, and of course someone who will stand up to the wing-nuts in the WH now.

21. Didn't mean to confuse
I meant 'regular' people endorse him...yes, as the other candidates have as well. I simply don't hold much esteem for 'famous' people endorsing candidates...it's the 'regular' people who elect our representatives, and we are the ones that count. That was my point. :)

23. Ahh...But famous people are people too
And Granny D is just a regular person also, who happened to get famous by mixing it up with all of us regular people out here in the provinces. If MLK Jr. were alive today would you discount his endorsement because he's famous?

Teach, I want you to know that I will vote for whoever gets nominated (except Lieberman), but why would you think that Dean has any special hold on the "regular" people. He's a rich guy from a privilged background--that doesn't make him bad, but he's certainly not regular folks. Kucinich was endorsed by Studs Terkel for crying out loud. Sure he may be famous, but he certainly has an ear for the common man.

Why support someone who, (although a social liberal), appears IMHO to support the status quo. Do you not want something greater, something better. Why not support Kucinich and see if we can fundementally change the direction of Modern American politics. Kucinich is the person willing to take a risk on policies that might seem outlandish to the "politically savvy", but I guarantee you regular people when they hear a message of hope...they will listen.

24. agreed
and Gandhi's grandson that impresses me more. MLK Jr if he endorsed Dennis I would be wowed. I am not sure who Teddy Kennedy is leaning on I hear Kerry though. Kucinich is that ripple of hope RFK talked about. He is for returning labor to its glory days. He loves this country I believe and wants to make it what he as a boy never had being poor and give it to those who have a simliar situation that he had as a kid.

22. Jealously
"Judging by the venom and sour grapes on Kucinich threads lately..."

We can attribute these attitude(s) to a word called jealousy (GREEN with ENVY!).

Dennis Kucinich isn't some freakin millionaire running around selling $2,000.000 hotdogs and having big ring dinger parties. So this means he is no good I ask?

The answer is that this is exactly what we NEED! We need someone that is GOOD, someone that is not some fat cat crook that is already a millionaire.

It makes me sick - seems you cannot be considered a serious candidate unless you are a millionaire these days. :puke:

In any event, Congressman Kucinich has the right words for a very BAD time in our history; perhaps the worst time in our history!

20. As a D family member
How can I contradict my Granny?

I have to cop to being undecided, but the derision heaped upon Mr Kucinich by so-called lefties is disturbing. I'd expect to hear this on Limbaugh or O'Reilly, not here.

To all of you who wish to compare DK supporters with the latest circus troupe, take a look in the mirror.
