Lou Dobbs BBV story was the best yet!
Edited on Wed Mar-10-04 06:38 PM by slor
They covered all the bases we could have hoped for, including the Diebold CEO statement that he, "would do anything to ensure george bush's victory". I was sooooo happy with it!

4. Lou gets an hour
Edited on Wed Mar-10-04 07:02 PM by NRK
and I think this segment is at or near the end, so you can watch both!

On edit: I see some posts saying it's "on now" at half past the hour, so maybe flip over after the interview?

3. I was happy to see it, but...
the woman confronting Diebold was so shrill and unpleasant to listen to. I had to mute her and read the intelligent, 100% correct things she was saying. I think maybe we need another expert... (I just really had a visceral reaction to the sound of her voice. I apologize if it was just me.)

6. What woman?
I hope you don't mean Bev...cause things could get ugly if you did.

7. rebecca mercuri
I listened; didn't have that reaction

she was FURious at the Diebold liar, though, with good reason

and, is there anybody that knows more about this whole fiasco, both from a technical AND political standpoint than Mercuri?

9. funny, I had the opposite reaction:
I found the guy from Diebold to be so revolting and reptilian that I couldn't stand to look at or listen to him.

And I turned it off. I couldn't deal with the nausea.

Figured I'd read about it here instead. :)

11. dobbs
I certainly congratulate dobbs for what he is doing, but i fear that the people who most need to be enlightened dont watch this type of show. Am i wrong or does he have a much wider audience than i think?

12. Hey, Rebecca Mercuri is impassioned, not shrill
Edited on Wed Mar-10-04 08:43 PM by BevHarris
I find her fiery spirit refreshing, and there are few computer scientists (she is from Harvard and has been working this issue nonstop for 15 years now) -- who have a personality.

OK, DU's Stephanie helped me out by counseling me to be less sarcastic after my Democracy Now bit -- Rebecca will learn to smooth out the edges, also. Look, the voting industry has never, never, been willing to put anybody on to debate her. Scared shitless of Mercuri, they are. So she hasn't had much opportunity to practice debates with voting industry guys on national TV, which is much different than radio or doing single interviews which are intercut.

We all need to help each other out with these TV debate forums. O'Reilly, Chris Matthews, here we come. Just remember: When TV coverage hits the national talking heads, all of America becomes familiar with the issue in as little as 48 hours, and then, LOOK OUT.

So head over to Rebecca's Web site, http://www.notablesoftware.com, and tell her you love her.

Bev Harris

Another talent: New York's Nostamj, and thanks for the umpteenth time for his TV sound byte brainstorming thread.

14. It takes an impressive amount of strength
especially when you know you are right and the message is so important that one can get angry/sound shrill... to do the reflection, be open to some coaching... and keep growing. Kudos Bev for doing so, and doing so publically (lead by example)... and encouraging folks to encourage the other players as well. Very gracious. And very important... you all have done a tremendous job digging through this story... making some sense out of it... getting it out there enough to get a media buzz... and now getting real media coverage. Ya'll are doing incredible work! Many, many kudos! :toast:

15. Well, we love Bev, too.
<fawning and gushing>

Bev, I have followed your story closely and my IP address probably clogs up your web logs...I think what you have done/are doing is one of the most fundamentally serious, important, courageous, and patriotic thing a citizen can do. And even more so considering the current climate of intimidation, slander, and retribution. Slowly but surely I am reading about others, including politicians, who are getting the word, talking to the people, and climbing on board. And more importantly, instigating change...

The right to vote and have your vote counted is a non-partisan issue. And it's why WE send observers to other countries.

Keep on doing. We got your back.

</fawning and gushing>

It's nice...no great, to see that some of these "fringe" and "conspiracy" stories finally getting their due airtime. I think a lot of the right people are pressing the media on the right topics and in the right way....clear, concise, aggressive, and with facts. We need to make sure the networks know we appreciate it.

17. If we get Dr. Mercuri on TV on a regular basis
And she continues to polish her sound bytes and delivery, no one will ever believe a voting machine vendor again. You WON'T get anything by her because she is probably the all-time expert on this, has been working the issue for 15 years. Think about that.

She's also a leading "expert witness" in lawsuits.

Now, we need to do a more effective job of coordinating all the talent, who do many different aspects of this fight. Gonna take a hard look at that this week.

Bev
