Favorite Dubya Debate quotes from 2000
Edited on Wed Mar-10-04 12:13 PM by jackstraw45
Worth a looksy in 2004, don't you think?

From here
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2000/debates/transcripts/u221003.html

"Bush: I would take the use of force very seriously. I would be guarded in my approach. I don't think we can be all things to all people in the world. I think we've got to be very careful when we commit our troops.

The vice president and I have a disagreement about the use of troops. He believes in nation-building. I would be very careful about using our troops as nation builders."

And then...the idiotic statement of the new century

"BUSH: I believe the role of the military is to fight and win war and, therefore, prevent war from happening in the first place."

So essentially, according to the Chimp, the roll of the military is TIME TRAVEL to prevent the war they just fought. Clever...

2. And a few sentences later, he repeated himself...
"And, therefore, I want to rebuild the military power. It starts with a billion dollar pay raise for the men and women who wear the uniform, a billion dollars more than the president recently signed into law, to make sure our troops are well-housed and well-equipped; bonus plans to keep some of our high-skilled folks in the services; and a commander in chief who clearly sets the mission, and the mission is to fight and win war, and, therefore, prevent war from happening in the first place."

Aside from Bush saying he knows how hard it is to put food on your family, my fave bush quote is from the meet the press interview where he told tim russert that "he makes decisions in the oval office with war on his ming"

For the rest of the best bush quotes without buying the Weisberg books, check out http://slate.msn.com/id/76886/

4. We should start a...
list of Bush flip-flops to send to the Kerry campaign and 527 groups like MoveOn to use to fight Bush's attempt to label Kerry as a flip-flopper.

It would be similar to the Bushisms books, only more policy wonkish....

This quote definitely counts toward Bushisms too....

Why do folks think such a lousy public speaker is charismatic? He has no expertise with the spoken word. I guess I just don't get it.

:silly:

5. Here's my favorite: "See, free nations are peaceful nations. Free nations
don't develop weapons of mass destruction."—Milwaukee, Wis., Oct. 3, 2003

I guess that means that we are not a free nation, eh, W???
But then we knew that, didn't we, after the way you and your handlers have trashed the very Constitution you swore an oath to preserve, protect and defend...

6. "I'm a uniter who will bring integrity back to the White House"
OMG! Even I, who protested in the streets the day he was sworn in, NEVER thought we'd be at a place so low. "Compassionate conservative." There are sooooo many, we could write a book. I hope the Kerry campaign has a person whose only job is to find the crap he said back in 2000 to use against his evil ass!
