Cutting Social Security = Tax Hike on Middle Class
To Bushco, repealing the tax cuts that are bankrupting this country is equivalent to a "tax increase". They are of course using this kind of semantic trick to paint any fiscally responsible opponent as a "tax and spend liberal". By similar reasoning, any cutting of Social Security benefits should be equivalent to a tax increase on working families that pay payroll taxes. A certain level of benefits was guaranteed and we are paying the premiums on this insurance policy with every expectation of receiving those promised benefits. I plan to bring this up the next time I talk to one of those "red-ink Republicans".
