"Bush helps out small business too"
 It's incredibly ignorant comments like that that make me want to shoot myself. I'm talking to a very uneducated, RNC robot and he said that when talking about small business after I told him a very rational thought. Any links to back me up? Thanks guys.

1. "Poor People are Lazy"
That's right. One of his comments was "poor people don't have jobs because they are lazy."

4. well..
small business people do often get hit by the 30%+ federal income taxes...plus they have lots of expenses and red tape to mull through just to stay in compliance. I guess Bush's insane slashing of practically all corporate regulations and taxes does trickle down to small businesses too. But it DOESN't make it right. Ask your friend if he would prefer paying slightly higher taxes with a BOOMING (1990's) economy, or lower taxes with people spending less?

3. Ugh, why are you talking to him again?
Some people will never listen to reason or see the light of day. Give up on him and move on.

5. How about these:
Successful businesses tend to hire more people, but:

"Fewer small businesses plan to hire"
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/usatoday/20040308/bs_usatoday/fewersmallbusinessesplantohire

And successful businesses will re-invest in the company, but:

"Study: Smaller Businesses Reluctant To Invest In Technology"
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/cmp/20040306/tc_cmp/18300081

These just in the last week.

6. Bushco are Liars and Hypocrites
They cut funding on Small Business loans. Everything these jerks say they are for they cut the funds on. There is a site that lays it all out. I will search or it again.

7. Big businesses evade taxes and stifle competition
The worst aspects of big business flourish under Bush. Big business underwrites the Republican party for a reason: it's good for their bottom line.

Small businesses don't get to offshore their headquarters to the Caymans like big businesses. That unavoidably means that small businesses shoulder more than their share of the tax burden.

Small businesses don't get to play monopoly like big businesses. When a Microsoft or a telco monopoly decides on a direction for technology, small business has no choice but to follow. Competition is not an alternative. The monopolies kill off competition from small businesses.

Small businesses can't outsource their labor or insource it via L-1 visa abuse. Big businesses can afford to navigate legal hurdles and accounting red tape. Also, big businesses have a much larger employee base to outsource. Big business can move 20% of their IT and accounting offshore for savings while maintaining 80% in the United States. A small business of 20 IT workers is not going to move 4 jobs to India. India would have no interest, and the overhead would eat up any savings. But a company with 1000 IT workers outsourcing 200 jobs is another story altogether.

Bush is on the payroll of big business. He always has been. Bush called Ken Lay "Kenny Boy," but it was Bush who was someone's boy. Remember, Bush was governor for nearly eight years while Kenny Boy was pulling off his Enron con right there in Texas under Bush's nose. Oh, and Lay was sending Bush checks the whole time.

9. Bush cut funding for the SBA -- one of the first things he did.
It's because he does everything for the monopolies and the monopolies don't like being forced to innovate and price-compete with small businesses. It makes as little sense to be a Repubican small businnessperson as it does to be a Republican non-billionaire.

11. I always wondered Dems don't use this more
Chimp tried to cut funding for SBA loans so severely that the SBA had to stop lending money for a while--it's chief funtion. Finally, it fell to the wingnuts in the house had to overrule him--and they did.

Even though the cuts didn't take place, the point is he tried.

My husband and I got a small "tax return" and the accountant said, "Don't bother to spend it. Bush giveth and he taketh away." Then he explained the whole shell game, but I didn't even listen because I learned a long time ago that taxes are a big game designed to rip regular people off and I don't want to waste the effort to follow the schemes.

Our Democratic governor has a plan for universal health insurance and I'm hoping that will help with the ridiculous health insurance costs when it kicks in. Other than that the other politician that did the most for small business was Clinton, with the great economy.

Sorry, I don't have any links. I'm just saying Bush has never done a thing for small business that I've heard of.

On edit: I'm not saying I mind paying taxes. I was trying to say that the way it's set up - small businesses pay a lot of taxes because we can't get the loopholes that the big businesses get. We get to spend a lot of time tallying every deduction and still have to pay a lot.
