Isn't GWB Looking Rather Puffy These Days?
Boy this guy is not holding up too well. Looking really puffy and bloated, especially compared to Kerry...

1. He must be hitting the bottle hard these days
I agree. He looks as if he has really aged in the past six months. All of those lies must be catching up to him.

2. All that prescription drug abuse causes water retention
Plus, it gives Smirky "plausible deniability" on the drug abuse issue.

Though I'll bet he still takes a drink and a snort of coke more than occasionally.

Because NO ONE tells the Emperor of Amerika what to do!

6. The presidency always ages a guy
...in a very short time. I remember the dramatic change JFK underwent, from somebody described as "boyish" to somebody who was under enormous stress, sleeping little, relaxing less.

The one exception was Clinton, who aged almost normally.

Bush looks more like somebody who has been insulated all his life and has finally had to face up to a few hard truths about his competence, his likeability, and the trustworthiness of the friends he has chosen.

He looks like hell.

I think I'll try to feel a teensy bit sorry for him for a second or two just to enhance my glee at Kerry's landslide win in November.

9. JFK had a thyroid condition, wore a brace and was heavily medicated.
Not dissing the man AT ALL; just pointing out that there were mitigating circumstances.

Didn't he have adrenal insufficiency? Cushing's Disease?

I think that's harder to fix than thyroid insufficiency.

Granted, none of that stuff is a beauty treatment. What really seemed to age him the quickest was the Cuban missile crisis.

they both look pretty bloated here also--Laura's mouth looks like it is an old woman's mouth, too much red lipstick, and all wrinkled up. The picture is from one of the ads

11. Laura
That's from smoking. One of the reasons I quit twenty years
ago.

I think her face shows a lot of tension in that ad, too, and
couldn't imagine why Matthews and Fineman were gushing about
how great she looked in it.

Bless her heart, I can't imagine what being married to that
piece of work must have done to her.

14. Puffy
I think his knee is giving him trouble, so he may not be able
to exercise lately.

Also, it's spring down here in Texas, and the trees are really
putting out the allergens.

I, personally, haven't been able to wear my contact lenses for
days, now, so maybe he's just having allergy problems.

24. looking thick around the middle, too ...
Edited on Wed Mar-10-04 12:09 AM by Lisa
In that footage where he was with President Fox, George W. looked as if he'd crammed himself into a too-small pair of jeans. He was having trouble walking properly, and I have to confess that I started laughing. My ex, in a similar situation and trying to close the zipper, had grunted "these pants are just like a cheap hotel", and then blushed as he explained that he meant that there was, ahem, "no ballroom".

Condolences on the allergies, Jane A. -- is it true that cedar (juniper) pollen is really bad down there?

I suspect that Bush does have some sensitivity (hey, just about the only context in which he IS "sensitive"!). But your observation about his knee would sure explain the growing potbelly he's developed. He's "given up sweets" at least 3 times since taking office. That thing about how he was denying himself dessert because he sympathized with the troops in their time of hardship -- making a virtue out of a necessity (e.g. Karl wasn't going to shell out for a bigger flight suit?).

26. Mountain Cedar - Juniper
Yep, Cedar fever hits the hill country here around Austin
about Christmastime.

Ya never know if you're getting a cold, the flu, have
allergies, or are allergic to your family. :))

But this time of year, I think it's spring stuff busting out
all over - or perhaps with the nonstop rain we've had, it's
just mold.

I think for a lot of us, mold is the worst.

For the Presidential Potbelly, though, I'm bettin' on the
knee thing and not being able to jog.
