How long do you think Howard Sterns career will last?
He has dared to criticize Bush. I think his days are numbered.

1. Stern seems to think
He has the FCC between a rock and a hard place. If they take him off the air he'll be a martyr but if they leave him on they will be accused of practicing a double standard.

I think Stern is safe for now.

This America after all. I have the freedom to not listen to the things that he's free to say. I say GO HOWARD!

3. No, he's a money-maker......
Edited on Tue Mar-09-04 01:47 PM by RandomKoolzip
Remember, Bush is just a figurehead-it's his corporate interests that operate the machinery. If Exxon, et al. decide that they need a new leader, the old one, no matter how useful he has been to propping up their empire, can be deposed.

Stern makes money for his advertisors. The various flavors of controversy around him spell "ratings" to those advertisors. If the controversy has to come from Stern badmouthing Bush, so be it. Products will still sell, the corporate behemoth will continue to drag the USA downhill, and the only thing whose days are numbered is the first amendment.

In the meantime, enjoy the feeling of watching the goombahs and rectangular-shaped mullet mannequins absorbing the news that Bush is a corrupt despot....these bits of news all coming from the flinty maw of their own favorite goombah king. The tide turns, but it's not the moon that's pulling......

9. You make a very good point here...
...When you write: "enjoy the feeling of watching the goombahs and rectangular-shaped mullet mannequins absorbing the news that Bush is a corrupt despot....these bits of news all coming from the flinty maw of their own favorite goombah king."

This is, indeed, the most subversive and, from my perspective, relevant (and amusing) aspect of this whole thing. Forced to choose between what they viddy every night on Fox News, and their traditional champion of goombah-dom, Sterm, I would guess that a majority of them would have side with Stern in the final anaysis. Why? Because when it comes right down to it, the Fox newspeople are squares and pussies, and Stern is not. And his audience fucking knows it!

4. I am a huge fan and if you know Howard
You'll know that this is not a bad thing for him. He absolutely loves the attention. He's got more money than god now so the attention is his incentive. He's going to bash Bush and his crew every friggin' day till the election and I wouldn't be surprised if his audience get much larger. Go Howard!!

5. What I don't get is...
1) Why didn't Crap Channel (uh oh! I said "C***"! I'm next!) can Stern YEARS ago, give their OBVIOUS RIGHT WING stance? Gee, it's an election year...go finger.

2) Why does Crap Channel still employe Randi Rhodes on WJNO-AM 1290 up in West Palm Beach? Could it be that she is not only contained to the one market WPB all-be-it 1.2 MILLION PEOPLE here, but, she's on AM *AND* gets UNREAL ratings?

3) Why does Crap Channel still employe a possible FELON known as...RUSH LIMPNOODLE? Hey, HE himself ADMITTED to illegal (yes, ILLEGAL) drug useage. Now, you gonna tell me that he managed to do NOT ONE show HIGH on Oxy's or whatever???????????? So much for a DRUG FREE WORK PLACE. Oh but he works at home...SO??????????/

6. OOohhhh..interesting point
Let's see if we can sort this out....

Saying or showing something "indecent" on the radio is an offense punishable by fine and/or dismissal, but admitted illegal drug use is okay?

Damn! That's funny!

7. i can answer question one
Tom Hicks, the CEO of Clear Channel, bought the Rangers from GWB and a consortium of investors. In 1996 I think they owned about 35 radio stations... now they own over 1200.

Combine that with the election, boobgate, and Howard's incessant, daily, anti-bush monologues, and you've got a perfect set of conditions for trying to muzzle Stern.

I love Stern and listen to him every day, but in a sick and backwards way I almost want to see him get kicked off the air, as painful as it would be for me. He would become an enormously influential voice in the struggle to kick out the pResident. He has 15 million listeners and the fence-sitters in the group would vote for Kerry.

Then Kerry wins, Powell's off the FCC, and Stern returns to the airwaves...

10. Screw Howard
I am a big fan...listen everyday

And he has been supporting Bush the whole time the constitution has been on the chopping block

Now....anmd only now does he take notice of this...when his ass is on the line...what a selfish prick

I want to see Americans pay for their stupid decisions....and it starts with Howard

Reminds me of that poem...When they came for me...

Howard is going to try and fight for his rights...but he will find he ignored the problem for to long....and now it is to late to save himself

Fuck him...his actions are not sincere...they are selfish

12. I hope fascism comes then we can all pay for not electing Bush!
:eyes: Your diatribe is shortsighted and misses the point: he finally sees the light and he should be welcomed, not spurned!

11. Ultimately, Howard will win because money talks and he brings it in
He brings the stations that carry his show high ratings, which translates into advertising dollars. He's the Larry Flynt of radio-guys like that, as disgusting as some of their "entertainment" may be, are true defenders of the bill of rights.
