Does Ted Kennedy still have a drinking issue?
If not, how come it is okay for Hannity to keep bringing up his drinking problem? But, it is a high crime to bring up Bush's drinking and cocaine problems!

1. Famous Repug Double Standard
Just like they can talk about Kerry's activities after coming back from 'Nam, but we can't talk about Bush going AWOL.

26. Or they can talk about Joe Kennedy being a bootlegger
but we never hear about Prescott Bush's dealings with the Nazis.

3. ...
First: .. Ignore everything Hannity says: he is a liar before anything else ...

Second: Bring up EVERYTHING against Bush that is possible to bring up ... at any time that seems right ...

Third: ... Edward Kennedy just gave an extraordinary speech this last week, and seemed to be quite fit for his age: .. his face was less chubby and puffy: .. his eyes were bright and animated, and his neck seemed less 'fat' ....

So: ... Whatever Hannity says about someone: assume the opposite is true ...

4. Ted Kennedy's been serving
the people of America and the people of Massachusetts since Hannity was in diapers.

The trivial little asswipe should stfu and show some respect.

5. For the same reason it's OK for Hannity to constantly carp about
"the media" when he IS the very media that causes so many of our political and social problems. (If you listen to Hannity you have to believe he lurks at DU. He takes many of the phrases here and uses them in CONdom. The one about the media he used incessantly two weeks ago over Matt Drudges lie about Kerry's affair with an intern. He repeated daily for a week that "the media" never checks facts, and the won't look into the story, blah blah...) You have to wonder how people can listen to his nonsense. His ratings have to be down.

6. He's been sober for years
I can't vouch for it personally, but he seemed to have gotten himself straightened out when he met his current wife. It's been several years now.

Are there any Kennedy-watchers who can add to this?

that Ted Kennedy does not have a drinking problem. If he ever did, its been literally decades. This is just a cheap personal attack that Kennedy can't defend himself against without drawing attention to it.

7. The Fine Senator from Massachusetts has been sober for almost 20 years...
I happen to know this personally. He's a friend of bill w, some of whom's OTHER friends happen to be my friends, and who know the kennedy's.

that's unlike rush limbaugh, who is NOT a recovering addict; he's still hooked on that hillbilly heroin.

18. Well, because Kennedy drove into a river and killed somebody?
That's one contest Bush wins.

Before you pounce, I just think that if we're going to bring up Bush's DUI (or his drinking in general) we have be prepared to take it on the chin for a Dem who drove off a bridge while drunk and left the scene while his passenger drowned.

learned what that red octagonal sign with the four letter word on it was for. Can we bring this up? Is it okay for her to engage in vehicular negligent homicide?

29. Yes, it was her boyfriend. She ran a stop light and it was a very small
town, back in the dark ages when you could run into folks like that at stop signs....

I'll give Laura a break on this one. It must have affected her, because
she seems like she's on meda and didn't marry until very late. It might have traumatized her.

But, whatever, Laura is the least of our problems. The Chimp has enough bad baggage we don't need to bother about her....

34. Teddy also
got thrown out of college for hiring someone to take his Spanish test for him. Got caught when the proctor noticed it wasn't Ted turning in the exam. Reminds me of the Bush twins trying to get by with fake ID's.

28. I also think we have to recognize that Ted....
.... really messed up with his nephew.

I appreciate Teddy, and am very grateful for the stand he has been taking lately.

But, as a woman, I'm still chagrined at the part he played in that shameful episode with his nephew. No, we don't have to whitewash it all... we can be honest and say what we don't like, and still appreciate the good contributions.

Unless there is evidence, I have no reason to believe he has not cleaned up his problem with booze...

35. Kennedy Is Not Running For President

GW is running and he looks and acts drunk to me!

Kennedy on the other hand has never been more in touch with the real issues in such a passionate way. When he speaks, everybody listens.

God bless him.
