Charlie Cook's sister is a Freeper
My wife just got back from a D.C. conference, at which pollster, pundit and general guy-about-town Charlie Cook was one of the speakers. He told a story about his sister, who gets up in the morning, switches on Fox News, and only turns it off to catch rush.

"And then," my wife releates," she turns it back on, until the evening, when she goes to the webiste..."

"Free Republic?" I interject.

"How did you know," my wife asks.

Just a little bit of gossip I thought we all might find amusing.

An aisde: Spent last weekend before her conference with her in D.C. just touristing around. Like the FDR monument a lot, even it he didn't want it (and they tore up the road where my wife and I used to park, drink champagne, and look at the monuments).

1. That's a real shocker (not)
... based on Cook's rather liberal-friendly bias (major not).

Never trust a Cooked poll...

2. More on CC
I've worked with CC candidates back in my DC days. He's definitely a DLC/Third Way kind of guy. But then, back when I was on the Hill or on campaigns, that's where the billables lay.

I have no reason, however, to disrespect his polling. He's a solid Dem. His tone was definitely one of reproach.

(Caveat: this is as related to me; I wasn't there for the presentation, I was back in Fargo sleeping off my late nights Biddy Mulligans and long days playing tourist as I hadn't when I lived in dC).

3. He's usually seemed fair and objective to me.
I like him more when it's good news, of course. :)
