CLARK: Well, I don't think it's right to use those images that divide the families. But I would say this, Wolf, that if this
does become the issue in the campaign, there will be many of us who will point out that this administration did not
do everything it could have done prior to 9/11.

We still don't have the results of the 9/11 commission. The White House is still quarreling and quibbling with
providing a full disclosure of everything they knew and what they did before 9/11.

And, you know, one of the things I always saw in any large organization is it's not just the people in the middle, it's the
people at the top that have to participate in getting a grip on what went wrong.

As Americans, we deserve an answer to what went wrong that enabled Osama bin Laden and the terrorists to come
in and conduct the attacks of 9/11. If that does become the issue, I think it's a loaded gun pointed right back at the
White House.

BLITZER: General Clark, as we continue to look at these live pictures coming from Baghdad, smoke billowing, clearly a fire as a result of this mortar attack in the so-called green zone, I want to play for you a soundbite, an excerpt of what the president said on Thursday in making it clear he's determined to get the job done. Listen to this.

GEORGE W. BUSH, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: If America shows weakness and uncertainty in this decade, the world will drift toward tragedy. This will not happen on my watch.

BLITZER: You can't disagree with him on that point, can you?

CLARK: Well, I don't think it'll happen on John Kerry's watch. I think John Kerry's a man that we can be proud of. He is going to be a very tough president. He's going to have very strong, consistent foreign policies. But he's going to have the right policies.

It's not just a matter of putting the troops in there, Wolf. When you're talking about winning the war on terror, when you talk about trying to solve the problem in Iraq, you cannot do this with military forces alone.

And one of the real problems we've had with this administration is, it's put an overreliance on our armed forces. It's an overreliance on trying to do things unilaterally. They haven't -- this administration hasn't built the kind of effective, multilateral policies that we need to be able to deal with Iraq and the war on terror.

And so I think that's a big part of having a strong, consistent policy.

Right on.... He is a wealth of information and an aggressive Bulldog that is not afraid of the likes of *W or ROVER.......Clark must stay out in front with Kerry and handle some of the pressure on foreign policy...Kennedy seems to handle the fighting about *W's serial lying problems and was awesome this am.....LOVE THAT KERRY/CLARK idea.....

7. I'd like to see Kerry dispatch his former rivals all over

Gephardt in industrial states, Edwards in winnable border states, Graham in Florida, Dean and Clark all over. All but Dean have endorsed him now. I suppose the Kerry people would fund such trips, but these people all have high profiles now and could me outstanding advocates if carted all over the place... and not one of them has a steady job now that I'm aware of.

It would make for a great showing of unity if the bunch of them would occassionally appear together as a group as well -- making the Dems look STRONG. Get Carter and Clinton on board too. Nice thing is these people all would have pretty open schedules and are would like nothing more than to contribute to a Kerry victory.
