Priority for November
I have seen several articles over the past month or so by disgruntled DUers who are unhappy over their candidates loss. They have written they may not vote for the Democratic nominee because he does not share their views.
First off, my candidate lost. And I'm not exactly thrilled that John Kerry is the nominee. However, my first priority is, and always has been getting George Bush out of office. If that means voting for John Kerry, than so be it.
I'm reminded of a quote from the movie 1776, when Franklin and Adams are arguing over the slavery clause and Franklin finally says, "The issue, Sir, is Independence..."
For mew the quote is, "The issue, Sir, is getting Bush out of the White House..."

1. I just didn't like kerry being shoved down our throats.
McAuliffe and the DLC/spineless ones made the plans, told us it's going to be our way and now you best support kerry.....I do not feel the Primaries have been executed with any other thought in mind. I can handle a loss, I become disenchanted with manipulation of the process. I just didn't expect the democrats to treat fellow democrats like kogs in a wheel. Yes, we now are stuck with kerry for the ABB goal. I feel cornered.

2. Kerry wasn't my first choice either,
but I'll vote Kerry over Bush this November.

I'm pretty familiar with the Nader group that was active in the Puget Sound area in 2000 (having been a Nader supporter myself from late that year]. But I can't imagine ANY of them voting for anyone other than the Democratic candidate THIS year. Extrapolation is always risky, but I think that would apply nation-wide. Those figures of Nader taking 4~6% of the vote are absolutely ABSURD.

We're looking at an enemy that has been part of the body politic in this country from early times. But only recently, have they had the (desperate?) ARROGANCE to pull off what they've done since that hijacked election. Booting their stooge out of office would be only PART of the necessary job. If we don't start laying the foundations for an evangelistic PROGRESSIVE movemement NOW, later generations will despise us. Nader (and Kucinich) speak to what's in our hearts. Silence those voices, and a victory in November will be short-lived.

5. a staunch clark supporter who's gotten to know and like kerry...
du'er trumad's post "i think mo dowd has a crush on kerry", and trumad's link:

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/03/07/opinion/07DOWD.html

don't see any post number, perhaps there aren't any, but it is sunday march 7 at 8:40 a.m. in this venue.

respectfully, please read the post and especially the link, if you haven't already. i, too, am angry at those who shoved kerry down our throats, however thought i should get to know a little about him, and, after all, he didn't do this to us. what i came to learn is that kerry is a good man and worthy of our support. i have not let go of my anger, however will not direct it toward this man.
