Funny things college republicans do.
Edited on Sat Mar-06-04 02:27 PM by K-W
A recruitment flier was posted around campus last week that read:

Do you like animals?
Well, Buddha did.
And he was a Republican.

Funny, but pretty worrying just the same.

Edit: This is a paraphrasing because I cant remember the exact wording, but the gist was the same.

4. Goddam.
I'd LOVE to see that flyer under the Buddha one. I'm itching for a fight, but unfortunately I'm at the University of Chicago, and Repubs are VERY hard to find here.

8. I'm at the University of Toronto
and there's not a Republican in sight. All of my fellow Americans hate Bush's guts. One from Philly has one of those "not my President" shirts. Believe me, we're lucky not to have to deal with their shit. It's a nice break from home. My pal at Drake followed that whole mini-riot story for his campus paper. Talk about closed-mindedness.

This summer I'm plunging right into the battle on Kerry's side. If you hear about a door-to-door Kerry campaign worker being tarred and feathered at Focus on the Family, that will be me.

3. Was it supposed to be a joke?
How the heck could they proclaim Buddha as a Republican? If Siddartha were alive today, he'd probably be a Green or a Socialist.

6. As a Zen Buddhist....
I'm offended by these remarks.
Buddha was above the political fray and therefore of no political leanings....
but, like jesus, I highly suspect that he would see republicans as too greedy to claim to be on the Middle Path.

College republicans wouldn't recognize the four truths if they were bitten on the ass by them.

11. Make me one with every buck?
Hm, a Republican Buddhist - that would explain the reincarnated trickle-down economics.

9. They've got a college newspaper here.
They had a cartoon entitled "how to spot a terrorist" and it was Step-n-fetchitesque charactures of muslims.

And then there were those college republicans who dressed up like the KKK, and posted it on their website with real photographs of black people being lynched.
