Life after Playboy..Ex Playmate helps Haitian Children

Saw this great lady on Norville show last night...what an admirable person, she could have lived the easy life but has been working with children in the slums of Haiti for the last 10 years.

Susan Scott Krabacher is Founder and President of M&SF. Susie is a dedicated humanitarian whose work with saving, feeding, and educating the poorest of the poor has been featured in People, Marie Claire, the Chicago Tribune, the Denver Post, the Canadian Post, the San Francisco Chronicle, the LA Times. Susie’s work has also been broadcast on Good Morning America, Inside Edition, and the Oprah Winfrey Show. The driving force behind the incredible work of M&SF, Susie is a relentless advocate for the children, and was the recipient of the prestigious 2000 "International Humanitarian Award" from the National Association for the Advancement of Haitians in Washington D.C. As Susie likes to say she is "everything from President to Chief Janitor" for M&SF. She spends nearly every waking hour working on the kids, and draws no salary. All expenses of administration of the M&SF affairs in the US are contributed by Susie and her husband.

11. Okay, I just googled her--found a 01 article that said she was 37
then, which means she is somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 now.

Damn . . . what ever she's eating for breakfast, I want some for my wife.

25. It's funny...
...to see the guys who remember her from her Playmate days. Glad I wasn't the only one.

Can't wait for O'Reilly or Scarborough to do a smarmy piece on her and how she offends Reg'lar Folks.

4. Somehow ...

I got the impression she usually lives in Aspen with her husband, who specializes in resort real estate and corporate tax law. Also somehow got the impression that MSF gets a substantial chunk of its money from others than SSK and hubby. But I agree this is nicer than joining the Junior League.

5. of course they accept donations
but they do the work for free and cover all administration costs

from the report on Norville last night it appeared they spend a LOT of their time in Haiti

I'd say thats 1000 times more admirable than your average couch potato or keyboard jockey who talk the talk but don't walk the walk

13. She said as a child she was in the foster care
program and was raped until age 8. She became tearful
telling this, she tied that in with one of the reasons
she works for the good of children now. She was
touching in the telling of her story, all she cares
about it getting the things she needs to care for
these children. She's like a Mother Teresa, just a
gorgeous one.

16. She could have lived an easy life? Her husband is a real estate lawyer
in Aspen, and they're super wealthy.

19. she's been doing this for years. I've seen this more than once. She puts
herself totally into this and saves lives daily. What
is the deal here? If you're rich you can't be good?
Most aren't but to assume all are as cold as the punks
on the society pages dressing up in twenty thousand
dollar dresses to give ten thousand dollars to a tax
deductible charity is wrong.

She's the real deal.

Nothing personal, but I don't see the Late Breaking News in this story...

point that I can see either. It's one of those human interest stories. I think it would have had a big reception in the lounge.

23. Not LBN.
This is an interesting story, but it doesn't really meet the criteria for posting in the Latest Breaking News Forum.

This thread has been moved to the General Discussion Forum, where it's better suited, and likely to be viewed by more members.

Thanks,
