What if Bush gives his Convention acceptance address at Ground Zero?
I have heard this idea speculated upon by a few people that Bush may decide to give his acceptance address at Ground Zero during the Republican National Convention. The version of the rumor I am most familliar with says that he would make a surprise visit to the location and then give his speech. The very idea of it is just revolting. It would make Bill Clinton look like a non-partisan statesman. Would there be protesters there to greet him? Would there be any public outrage over such a disgusting act of shamelessness and arrogance?

2. I really hope he does...he'd get roasted.
...but after the uproar 1 second of WTC film has had in his first campaign commercial, I would NOT count on it.

3. Worlds largest ....
Edited on Fri Mar-05-04 04:35 PM by Drifter
First amendment zone in History. There is talk of half a million people protesting in NY during the convention.

Lets get Stern to have his Million Moron March in NY at that time. That would be great.

Cheers

32. I predict at least 2 million
Combine all of the American anti-Bush people with many international visitors and I'm willing to bet that the protest crowd will be the largest in the history of the United States.

4. Absolutely...
The arrogance of making an acceptance speech at Ground Zero will be the end of his role as President. The irony is that if he balks, which he won't, he will admit guilt. He won't balk, but either way, he screwed up bad!

12. Won't happen
I'm sure that it was a part of the original Rove plan when they decided to "USE" NYC for the convention. I think they already see the backlash from just 4 seconds in a commercial. Even dumbasses like them realize what would happen if they now used Ground Zero as a stage for Bush*s campaign. They are dumb, but not that dumb.

and of course he'd mention god a lot and lead the 'nation' in prayer for strength to 'stay the course' and 'follow god's leading of the US'

21. That would be the worst fucking mistake they could make...
...and I think there's a good chance they'll make it anyway.

If this flap over the ads is bad, you can just IMAGINE how much blood and gore there will be over using what is, as they keep saying, a burial ground as Bush's re-election platform. Bring it on, I say, and watch them crumble.

C ya,

22. No protests...
At least not in sight of cameras. There's gonna be some crazy shit going down in NYC durning RNC, believe me. And "free speech zone" cages over in Jersey are the least of it. Herr Bush is gonna have his army there to maintain patriotism city-wide.

I bet they could paint a ground-zero speech as a heart-wrenching display of steadfast leadership to the drooling, moron, TV-watching masses. Sad, but true.

23. Please - let him do it!!!!
If he does he will become severely burnt toast AND hopefully, the republicans will always be associated with bad taste and viciousness if that happens. The best thing is that of course the police will be told to crack a few heads, but they wouldnt dare touch the members of the victims families who will, beyond a doubt, be there!!! Let the police cordon them off and see what happens!

25. he visits the Site Next Week....
after all the outrage about his using the ad.he going there...unbelieveable!!!!

President Bush, facing criticism from victims' relatives for using images of the destroyed World Trade Center in campaign ads, will visit a Sept. 11 memorial in New York next week.

Bush plans to tour the memorial Thursday in Long Island's Nassau County, one of the city's suburbs, prior to attending a re-election fund-raiser that night in East Meadow, N.Y.

The visit comes as Bush's campaign ads with images of the skeletal remains of the Trade Center and fire fighters carrying a flag-draped stretcher angered several relatives, who asked that the ads be pulled from the airwaves.

(snip)

In New York, Bush will tour a business and deliver remarks on the economy. He starts the day with an address via satellite to evangelical Christians at their convention.

The events are part of a week of travel and appearances in a full-throttle campaign as Bush faces presumptive Democratic nominee John Kerry. On Monday, Bush has two fund-raisers, one in Dallas and one in Houston. While in Houston, he'll also visit a livestock show and rodeo.

29. Never Happen

He only appears in a building with twenty flags all around him.
We usually do not see him with blue skies above or "just plain folks" in his presence.

All of those in front of Tricky George, clap on cue. Usually you will see one/2 max African Americans, one Asian, one Hispanic and everyone else clapping or grinning is WASP. They all must have a "Clueless Look" on their faces.

That theory changes a bit if Cousin Colin and Cousin Condi (Or that idiot Paige} are standing beside him.

So for him to go to Ground Zero, he would have to land in a parachute and there would be such tight security that it would be sterile as usual.

I was not around for Hitler's speeches but I would imagine them to be just like Georgie's.
Please, no more years for the smirking chimp, enough already.
