has anyone else considered the possibility that Jayson Blair was a RW
plant?

Think about it; NYT sucks donkey nutsack, but it's head-and-shoulders above most print-media outlets.

Along comes Jayson Blair, who, along with attending Foulwells's Liberty University, was also an admitted abuser of coke (and we all know that the RWers prefer stimulants). Also, think about the spin that Blair was a product of "affirmative action" in the NYT heirarchy.

So, now, the long-touted epitome of the "liberal media" (hell, Coulter essentially based Slander on the supposed bias of the NYT) has taken a huge hit to its credibility. No matter what they report, the RW will respond, "Oh, yeah, they're the ones who hired and promoted Jayson Blair."

9. Yeah. They're all just coincidences.
People with similar motives never actually cooperate. Nobody ever takes advantage of inside infomration. There's no such thing as 'cronyism'. Yup. The al Qaeda isn't a 'conspiracy' either -- just a coincidence. When the madministration talks about the Iraq-9/11 "connection," they're not talking about a 'conspiracy' because, after all, we know there aren't any. :eyes:

4. RW = Right wing
There's a DU glossary of acronyms somewhere on the web. Sorry, I don't have the link, but I'm sure somebody will pass it on.

Welcome to DU, are_we_united_yet! :hi:

3. Got links about Liberty University and Blair's coke use?
I read he attended LU only for a short time and transferred out.

No matter what they report, the RW will respond, "Oh, yeah, they're the ones who hired and promoted Jayson Blair."

No matter what they report, the RW has always dismissed it anyway with the "liberal media" slur. So now they've got another reason to slam the NYT. Big deal.

I don't think Blair was a plant; his presence and promotions there were explained clearly by the Times. I think the Times responded well to the incident. And I don't see them suffering lasting damage from this. I mean, who's talking about it today? Besides you? ;-)

6. yes, I know this occurred several weeks ago and thus most people
will consider the story ancient history. The attendance at LU and the coke use are both well documented (Blair, in fact, used the latter as an excuse for his unprofessional conduct).

And, yes, the right has always accused the NYT of dishonesty; now they have a verifiable excuse to do so.

7. Maybe.
However, I know plenty of left wing people who do coke. You'd be surprised at the people who can't afford it but still do it. I actually think meth is more of a right wing drug. A friend of mine is a part time DJ and union carpenter that sells pot on the side. Guess what? He's a Republican! I'm still trying to figure him out.

8. That's what I'VE been saying.
Blair had the "sniper" story that I believe was a BFEE operation to keep the Dems criticisms of Bush out of the news during the election.

Blair had the Jessica Lynch story, but, removed the fact that Kerry and his wife arranged for her family to see Jessica letting them use their jet. Only Rove could have demanded that aspect of the story be removed.
