Pay attention to stories like this
Another "capture", "in custody", "details unavailable" story.

There is an interesting pattern that I've observed. When the chimp is in trouble, and boy is he in trouble now, a "new" capture is trotted out. This one supposedly met with Atta in Prague. Yet, evidence shows that Atta was *not* in Prague at the time of the alleged meeting. But that's all a different story. What I think we should note, besides the very important bogus Atta meeting allegation, is that they had this guy in custody, oh, for a week... He is touted as an important terrorist link, and he is paraded around the press to deflect attention from the real story. This time the real story is that Bush unequivocally LIED about the Niger evidence.

I've seen this pattern over and over again. We should be prepared for Bin Laden or Saddam to suddenly appear in the hands of the CIA or FBI. They may be holding them back for a time when Bushco is really backed into a corner.

Do I need tinfoil here, or does anyone else notice this pattern?

1. Very suspicious timing.
Saw it on the cable "news".

This is the guy who was rumored to have met with Atta in Prague at a time when Atta was in the US, the old discredited story re-hashed to distract the public.

I fully expect that Osama will be captured exactly when teh heat really gets on. Musharraf knows where he is.

2. There is another GD thread on this by W.Pitt. about running this OLD
story about Atta in Prague again when it's been disproven numerous times by intelligence. Will wonders whether Bushco is getting desperate with all this regurgitation of old news.

3. Can someone explain?
< An Iraqi intelligence officer identified as Ahmed al Ani, who at one time was reported to have met with September 11 hijacker Mohamed Atta, is in U.S. hands, officials said Tuesday. >

< A senior Pentagon official said al Ani was picked up by U.S. military forces in Iraq last week but could not say whether he was still in military custody. >

So if he's in US "hands," and those aren't military hands, whose hands are they?

BTW, thanks for the link, mgdecombe. Welcome to DU! :hi: To respond to your question, I'll paraphrase Ari: Yes, indeed, the pattern has been noticed in the building. ;-)

6. Check out this insane quote by Perle
Re: the "captured" Iraqui.

"Richard Perle, a member of the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board who has contended al Qaeda and Iraq are linked, said he is hopeful al-Ani's capture will lead to a corroboration of his stance.

"If he chose to, he could confirm the meeting with Atta," Perle said. "It would be nice to see that laid to rest. There's a lot he could tell us."

"Of course, a lot depends on who is doing the interrogating," said Perle, adding he fears that if it were the CIA, it could skew the interrogation so as to play down evidence that the alleged meeting with Atta occurred."

So, apparently now we can't trust the CIA...that's the spin. Who is that going to go over with?

9. Remember the "dirty bomber"?
They'd had him for a couple of weeks, then released the "arrest" the day Crowley was testifying about FBI stonewalling on Moussaui.

11. Wheels wobbly; may come off
Yeah, the vibrations from losing wheels are definitely starting to filter out. This pathetically lame attempt is patently obvious to all of us sophisticates. Now, we just have to wait for the rest of the country to catch up.

They are just now concluding that Bush lied about WMDs.
