Katie Couric with 9/11 widows....
Man..I'm one of these people that always defends Couric when both the left and the right complain about her. But this morning she had on 3 9/11 family members. 2 Were upset with bush and the ads and the third seemed like a bush supporter (although to be fair not a rabid apologist).

First Katie asked "Well there are a lot of people who say President Clinton let a lot of this stuff go and that allowed this even to happen" or some such thing.

Then "Well would you be as angry if John Kerry used these images in an ad?"

Then she did ask a tougher question about bush but then let the woman who was clearly on his side answer it.

I'm not one of these people that complains every time a journalist or interviewer is tough on our side. But this was really one of the first times when I saw her being blatantly partisan on this.

I still don't think she is a republican or anything of that nature, I just think this was playing to the basest of instincts and it dissapointed me.

2. You should have seen Katie interview Sandra Day O'Conner
a couple of years back and commiserate with her about how hard it must have been to be "forced" to decide Bush v. Gore. Hell, they didn't even have jurisdiction and she voted to select Bush president.

It was absolutely disgusting and full of propaganda, distortions, lies and worship for the Felonious Five that enabled the neo-con coup.

3. obscene
if this quote is accurate... and I will wait to see if there's a transcript... then Couric was utter obscene *starting* an interview with the implication that it was Clinton's fault.

maybe she doesn't know that the bushies shelved all his work and ignored the barrage of warnings...

First Katie asked "Well there are a lot of people who say President Clinton let a lot of this stuff go and that allowed this even to happen" or some such thing.

4. September 11th Happened on TV
You can tell the ones who have no personal experience of September 11th except seeing it on TV. They are the ones who exploit the event for the sake of politics.

5. Let Katie do her Bush whoring. I believe the 9-11 panel that
is interviewing Clinton and Gore will discover just who dropped the ball. The question, of course, is whether she and the other whores will allow the American people to know about it.
Couric is disgusting.

6. Read....
Edited on Fri Mar-05-04 12:29 PM by dennis4868
the Book on Bush, by Eric Alterman and Mark Green. They beautifully outline the events leading up to 911, starting with Clinton and ending with Bush in the classroom reading to schoolchildren. It is very clear that although Clinton did not kill Bin Laden, the Clinton WH was in a mad panic to stop him and kill him. There was a real sense of tension in the Clinton WH regarding Bin Laden. They had tried to kill OBL a few times, and one time missedby 30 minutes. They were also cutting off their funding and increasing the anti-terrorism budget and created a special office in the WH to fight terrorism. But then Bush takes over the WH and ignores the Hart/Ruddman report, ignores the calls from many other countries about the threat and even ignores our own FBI and CIA briefings. Bush's WH took a very laid back approach compared to Clinon and only had 2 meetings about terrorism before 911. Basically, all that Bush did was say that Cheney would lead a commission to look into al Qaeda (this never happened) and that he instructed his cabinet not to fly on commercial airlines....oh yeah,...he took a month long vacation!
