She was fantastic. Jake Tapper interviewed her and it started with how she accidentaly came upon the Diebold files on the internet. It showed how a Computer expert in California was able to change the results of a mock election. It was Great coverage. It ended with a plug for more about Bev in the next issue of Vanity Fair.

8. I Saw Her Interview, But A Question and a Comment......

Question: Why the heck is ABC just questioning her NOW???? My God, we have been hearing this for months! Is the network machine this far behind?

Comment: I have to say I was a bit dismayed that Bev did not mention the fact that Diebold is a BIG Republican contributor. I guess by NOT saying that, it gave the piece more credibility for not seeming partisan. When the average Joe finds out, or when the Drip Dip gets louder, then all will know the TRUTH.

11. the major media has been ignoring this issue for quite a while

the answer is the same as to why bush* gets next to zero negative exposure. We have corporate owned media whores for the most part. I think today was huge in terms of getting the word out.

I am hoping Lou Dobbs picks up on the GOP contribution/voting-machine Company connections. I have e-mailed him about it.

13. The wedge that pushed the story to the networks

to cover the story was next month's Vanity Fair story. VF called me back in September and wanted a copy of the book galleys. I got them sent as fast as Bev could write them.

Originally, this was to be a short 3,000 word article written by a very respected writer (in fact, a demi-god of American literature). VF decided the issue was much more imporant and assigned a investigative reporter to the story. The article more than trippled in size and Shnayerson combed through Bev's research and found it sound.

So, Bev gets the credit for her tenacity and VF gets the credit for caring enough to investigate the problem and write about it.

VF's validation of Bev's work becomes the break point for TV.

Credit also goes to DU and all the folks here who helped push this project along.

Thanks to you David, too. Also the folks at verified voting (yay!!)and anyone who ever took the time to write/email/fax/phone legislators and the media.

Looking at the way the piece was done, Bev actually got very little of the air time, so she may have said a lot that wasn't used. However, yes, this is a non-partisan issue, and we have to wonder why some Democrat officials in Georgia are so adamantly FOR these systems.

Remember that Bev is not in control of what they use in a piece or how it gets edited. Given that fact, I thought it was extraordinary to show Bev auditing the totals then going to the RABA person who really hit the ball home.

As the issue gets more time, it will probably bring up the other questions, like, is the program code benign to begin with? Is it really checked for errors? Should democracy EVER be conducted in the dark?

FYI folks, the fight continues and both organizations need some help.
