How can Carville be married to Mary Matalin,
who is in on the war crimes, yet claim to be on our side?

"
Newsday article's discussion of the subpoena's focus on something called the White House Iraq Group, something which -- as the article notes -- has only been discussed previously in an August 10th, 2003 article in the Washington Post.

"The group met weekly in the Situation Room. Among the regular participants were Karl Rove, the president's senior political adviser; communications strategists Karen Hughes, Mary Matalin and James R. Wilkinson; legislative liaison Nicholas E. Calio; and policy advisers led by Rice and her deputy, Stephen J. Hadley, along with I. Lewis Libby, Cheney's chief of staff. "

17. Me neither.
Total mystery. I think their kids will either be really messed up or will be totally cynical politicians.

2. The Lord works in mysterious ways. This is one of them.
In fact, this is one of the biggies, like the extinction of the dinosaurs. Maybe more mysterious.

22. Think of Scalia and Ginsburg...best friends off the court....
...this is Washington, no one takes partisan politics personally except those outside the system (like us). These political people party, vacation and dine together 24-7. It's strange to see...I worked in DC for a long while before I chucked it all. I never became as cynical as most, but this is a "business" to them. The only thing I understood that could never be forgiven, was party swapping....think Jumpin Jim Jeffords, or the various democrats who became republicans in the 80's and early 90's.

Deaf, not hearing or listening. Dumb, not paying attention. Blind, not seeing. I thought I would toss that last one in just for the fun of it. In other words, a state of being totally oblivious to what is obvious to the rest of us.

4. It was a GOP plot to take the best and brightest political
mind out of politics. They also did this with AHHnoldts wife. With Carville in play, Rove would be toast.

23. Actually Carville and Matalin were an item BEFORE the 1992
election campaign. They were married in 1993 but they were (I think) living together during the 1992 election and were certainly a couple. So, if the GOP's strategy was to neutralize Carville, it obviously didn't work too well considering the outcome of the 1992 presidential election

5. Mary and James

What a sorry pair!

Is it my imagination or did Carville sell out? What could he possibly see in that witch? Since he married her he is a spineless wonder. I think he is just a spy for the Republicans.
Did anyone see him the other day when he was talking like the JC of 'old? He was talking about the Count Down For Old Bushie Baby.

Other than that,he wimps out to drunk Bob Novak.

I pray he wakes up from his nightmare of living with that tired sneaky broad and returns to his vibrant self.

6. Mary isn't the worst.
They have a lot more in common than not. I'm not so thrilled with James anymore anyway, all Washington insider all the time. Although they may be the ones who save us from the fundies after all. It just may be that Boosh and Jaysus may outstay their welcome in Washington.

12. Perhaps they realize how different they are,
how diametrically opposed their world views, are, etc., but have opted to focus on making a good family life for their small children.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them split up when the youngest enters college, though.

Edited on Fri Mar-05-04 03:35 AM by republicansarewhores
Diametrically alike in their strengths and ambitions as they are diametrically opposed in their respective opinions. I think they are very alike in their passions for their individual parties and that passion was attractive to each of them. Of course there's no question James is the light side, and Mary the dark side ;-) Maybe each thought they could sway the other? Dinner conversation's gotta be quite an event at their house!

25. Yup. I have a mental picture of them laughing at the breakfast table
they don't give two hoots. They have jobs and they're paid very well to do them.

My bet is that they love each other madly and laugh all the way to the bank. It's just business, after all.

Edited on Fri Mar-05-04 08:12 AM by Throckmorton
Flame away, I don't care. Sure, there are differences between individual party members, but taken as a whole, both parties stand for the politics of Dead Center. Say or do whatever will get you in office. Might and incumbency makes right after all. So now our, and I use the term our sparingly, multimillionare, silver spoon in his mouth, rich boy, will take on their multimillionare, silver spoon in his mouth, rich boy, and we all get to yell and cheer.
