911 widow: "When I look at the ads.....I know.... that...* failed those.."
this piece of tape is from wolf on CNN, re: the despicable ads which play on 911, drawing outraged criticism on many fronts, chief among those including victims' families

here's what Patty Casaza said, word for word:

"My faith has been shaken to the core. When I look at the ads, and I see Bush standing there, uh, and speaking over Ground Zero, I know that in my heart President Bush failed the 3000 Americans that died there on that day."

CNN then shows the slowed-down section of one ad which shows a flag-draped body being carried off! they called specific attention to this.

then comes Karen Hughes, with the astounding statement:

"I think it's very tasteful; it's a reminder of our shared experience as a nation."

OK, if it's so tasteful, does that mean you're going to keep carrying it.

Sure hope youd do.

Ed Rendell's pathetic, wimpy, wussy response to the ads coming up.

1. Kerry should be weighing in on this
we are counting on him. Where is he? I am not cricizing but hope there will be something more than what has been released.

4. tasteful? read what 9/11 widows have to say
Mindy Kleinberg said she was offended because the White House has not cooperated fully with the commission and because of the sight of remains being lifted out of Ground Zero in one of the spots.

"How heinous is that?" Kleinberg asked. "That's somebody's loved one."

"It's a slap in the face of the murders of 3,000 people," said Monica Gabrielle, whose husband died in the twin tower attacks. "It is unconscionable."

Gabrielle and several other family members said the injury was compounded by Bush's refusal to testify in open session before the 9/11 commission.

'After 3,000 people were murdered on his watch, it seems to me that that takes an awful lot of audacity. Honestly, it's in poor taste.' - Kristen Breitweiser.

This made front page of 2 newspapers I saw today "Storm over bush ad, Bush ad a zero" etc, but I cant help wondering if the rest of the country knows whats going on here in NY.

Kerry is supported by the firefighters union- and they r as angry as the widows. Hope Kerry really speaks out about this.

13. I hope Kerry does not speakput on this issue. I would rather see him rise
above this issue, while people like you and me beat Bush over the head with it until he does pull the ads. I would say that if Bush pulls the ads, we have another victory like the AWOL issue and it keeps them off balance and slows the momentum. I have written the Whitehouse and my newspaper editor today regarding this and urge everyone to do the same.

Sometimes, silence on the part of the right person can speak a great deal.

20. Right. There are some issues he should let others speak on.
There's plenty of spontaneous outrage on this.

28. The piece says nothing about Kerry's stand on this
With all due respect, it's a copy of an Associated Press story by an AP reporter.

Sure, some staffer thought it was relevant enough to post on Kerry's website, and that's great.

But it's disingenuous to pass it off as Kerry's opinion. And I am a Kerry supporter!

I want Kerry to personally respond to this, and I agree with posters here who say he should address this directly. Nobody reads Kerry's website, and nobody reads Bush's website unless they are already politically geeked.

2. Rendell's wishy washy reply to Commissioner Kerik (Bush thug)
Wolf: using the images of 911; some victims' families say it's not appropriate. Is it appropriate or not appropriate?

Rendell actually starts out by MAKING Bush's case for post-911 leadership FOR him!!!

his reply was too long-windedly apologetic for me to stand to listen to it again.

Rendell's only demurral came at the very end, when he said that actual images of the towers were something that he wouldn't have used.

it was very demoralizing to watch his reply. Of course, he hadn't seen the ads, NOR had he heard anything about the nature of the families' outrage.

IOW, the perfect person to reply to the defense mounted by the reptilian party: somebody who was completely in the dark about the actualities; therefore, someone who, being a reasonable person, would not jump down the pugs' throats in kneejerk fashion; someone who'd give as bland a response possible

What does he have to do with it? Is he a possible running mate for Kerry?

22. yes.
that was why he was on, basically, to discuss his potential as a VP candidate

he was very much different (diffident?) than I've ever seen him before; IIRC, he was usually something of a firebrand

dunno what his game is.....trying to be conciliatory for what reason?

appealing to all possible constituencies in order to curry favor with Kerry?

he certainly sounded like your basic cable TV Achordate dem.

very disappointing appearance

6. Not True
He won't show the transfer cases of dead soldiers, only the flag draped bodies of firemen that he has yet to provide the funding they need for new equipment.

23. tweety running the ads right now, following a 911 widow
did a still of the flagdraped body, followed by pix from Iraq, and message that they refuse to show coffins of returning dead soldiers

two family victim are on now

first: I find it ironic that Bush would choose 911 to show leadership when he was IN A CLASSROOM reading to children!!!!

then she goes on about how he was against the 911 commission and "stonewalled" cooperation, AND won't testify!!!!!!

second victim is a shameless SHILL!!!!!

"one of the reasons I was able to get through were the images of resiliency and courage"

she LIKES being reminded of that!

not one word about Bush, though....just the images being comforting

25. hahahahahha tweety tries to put words in her mouth about ads
saying she's OK with ads, just not the way the pugs have responded to 911 commission

tweet is REAALLY giving it to her now; asking her if she's a dem or not.

now back to shill, who says she has a political agenda!

gee.....wonder if this skank has an agenda of her own.

shill says she didn't vote, but unconvincingly says she "probably would have voted" for GORE!

what a LIAR!

Mathews is nauseating
as usual - who cares who these people voted for? Like that makes their opinion on the matter less valid? The shill actually had a good point (unintentional, of course) - she said that no one owns these images but the American people. I agree - so why the hell does Bush wrap himself up in them every chance he gets? That's the whole point - its not the images, per se, its the way they are being politicized by this administration.

27. JESUS!!!!! get this one
chirpy just asked the widow if she'd be angry if the dems used a bunch of 911 images to attack Bush on his weakness/fecklessness in WOT!

he then said that he knew it was speculative!

well, why on earth deosn't he ask if the dems should use ads picturing Osama bin Laden thanking Bush for invading Iraq, or something?

what an ASSHOLE!
