Bush as waffler.
Bush is against campaign finance reform; then he's for it.
Bush is against a Homeland Security Department; then he's for it.
Bush is against a 9/11 commission; then he's for it.
Bush is against an Iraq WMD investigation; then he's for it.
Bush is against nation building; then he's for it.
Bush is against deficits; then he's for them.
Bush is for free trade; then he's for tariffs on steel; then he's against them again.
Bush is against the U.S. taking a role in the Israeli Palestinian conflict; then he pushes for a "road map" and a Palestinian state.

Bush is a waffler. Did I miss any?

3. Adding in...
First, he says he'll provide money for first responders (fire, police, emergency), then he doesn't.
First, he says that 'help is on the way' to the military... then he cuts benefits.
First, he claims he's a compasionate conservative... then he becomes a fascist.

4. A couple more
My favorite from our imperious "leader":

"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our NUMBER ONE priority and we will not rest until we find him."
George W. Bush, September 13, 2001

"I don't know where he is. I have no idea and I really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."
George W. Bush, March 13, 2002

Or how about:

When Bush* told Ariel Sharon to withdraw "immediately" from his incursion into the West Bank. Sharon ignored him, the right wing weenies from congress and the fundie fools read Bush* the riot act. After that, "immediately" was redefined to "whenever convenient".

What a "leader"!

5. Not a waffler... A bait and switcher
Lures voters and supporters with one set of promises, only to change his mind later. Except things were planned that way from the start. His whole political career has been based on betrayal and broken promises.

9. Bush started calling Kerry a waffler ...
Edited on Thu Mar-04-04 08:02 AM by gulliver
... a couple of weeks ago. I copied Bush's style in my post.

Now, like you, I notice that the "Kerry is a waffler" meme picking up steam in the media and on the net.

But Bush is the true master of the 180, not Kerry.

13. same pattern as when governor
Didn't he veto some education bill, but when it was then passed over his veto, he was quick to take credit for it in the presidential campaign?
