Didn't Pepperbelly say that Wesley Clark doesn't fool around?
Or more specifically, didn't s/he say that he wouldn't be doing what he's doing now if he wasn't serious about it all?

3. It's time for Clark to make his move
I'd vote for Clark in a heartbeat, but it's time to cook or leave the kitchen.

8. actually ...
if he waited until October, it wouldn't be that bad except for the truncated primary season and all the front loading.

says its Kerry-Clark now. Clark was sounding like he was reading from Kerry's notes on Crossfire. Evidently the two of them are quite close.

Guessing Edwards gets Attorney General, although I think Spitzer might be a strong choice there, too.

9. He's grown on me, too.
And I was always suspicious of his Washington Post/CIA ties.
(I think the Post is spook central)

11. Question and a comment
I thought the same thing: if the Democrats win in 2004, Spitzer might be a great AG. But there's some talk of him running for governor of New York, so we'll see what happens.

Who said that Kerry and Clark are close?

13. I have to admit
a Kerry-Clark team would be impressive, just on the face of it.

I'm still a Dean supporter, but I could imagine Kerry-Clark giving Bush nightmares.

5. Clark???
....I happened to catch Gen Clark moderating a discussion group regarding Iraq a while back....I was impressed with his ability to keep everyone included in the discussion as well as focused on the topic at hand....I have not researched much of his backround yet and will of course do so if he announces....I am curious as to whether or not the issue of military rank is the driving force behind his support....is this support a reaction to the bogus national security issue that the GOP has somehow maintained exclusive political rights to....has he demonstrated liberal progressive ideals?....has he stated that he will utilize the military healthcare model of "socialized medicine" as a launching pad for national healthcare reform....I am not dissing Gen Clark at all however I do have concerns regarding his actual effectivness in spearheading a repudiation of the GOP angenda........

17. Unfortunately because bushco has pissed off and insulted every
nation in the world save one (Israel - but there's still time when they find out he's been lying to them), the national security is hardly "bogus."

Do you really believe that the terrorists no longer want to pull another 9/11? If you believe that they do, then the national security issue is not bogus. If you believe they don't then I know a nice bridge I'd like to sell ya. :eyes:

18. Answer: YES, Clark's very progressive
I believe he favors universal health care for instance, to ansower one of your specifics. He's actually more progressive than Kerry, if what I've read is accurate.

10. Today is August 2, 2003...
Interesting from priceless Atrios' blog:

Something to Remember
Posted by Atrios

As of this time in the summer of 1991, only Paul Tsongas had made it clear he
was running for the nomination.

Prompting sentences like this, from the August 8, 1991 Financial Times:

The shortage of declared Democratic candidates is in marked contrast to the
same stage four years ago when half a dozen Democrats were formally in the
race. The difference is largely explained by President George Bush's continuing
high approval ratings in the polls and the widespread assumption that he will be
nearly impossible to beat next year.

I, too, am impatient for battle, but remember in '91 WJC laid out for several more months at this point.

Part of what appeals to me in Clark (I perceive) is a first-class mind experienced in the strategic view. I think we have been and are seeing that at work.

Call me silly.

14. I've pointed this out before
It's still really early. Most people aren't paying much attention (Except for political junkies like us.)

My guess is sometime around Labor Day. He's signing on late will give him lots of attention, too, like any new kid on the block does.

Remember, it's important not to peak too soon and I think a couple of the candidate's stars are starting to burn out.

a few months back that Clark was going for VP. Alterman has a great political ear.
