David Kay Not Happy With BushCo
http://www.calpundit.com/archives/003405.html

COMING CLEAN....David Kay isn't very happy with George Bush's continuing nonresponse to the news that Iraq never had stockpiles of WMD after all. He says it's time to quit shilly shallying:

Mr Kay, who was formerly a UN weapons inspector, called for the president to go further. "It's about confronting and coming clean with the American people. He should say we were mistaken and I am determined to find out why," he said.

....Mr Kay said that continued evasion would create public cynicism about the administration's motives, which he believes reflected a genuine fear of WMD falling into the hands of terrorists. He also said that if the administration did not confront the Iraq intelligence fiasco head-on it would undermine its credibility with its allies in future crises "for a generation".

Kay seems to be getting a little more annoyed with every passing week. Give him another couple of months and he'll be making television commercials for John Kerry.

1. He better be careful or Rove will Ritterize him.
Taking responsibility for mistakes is not part of this Administration's skill set.

Character assassination is.

2. The pressure needs to stay on, until he gives an answer.
What we need to do is continue to confront the president with this issue. He continues to say that the world is a safer place because of the invasion but, I just don't see it! He needs to come clean about why he sent troops over to Iraq. And, we need to be the ones assisting Mr. Kay with his inquiries. We cannot allow the president to continue to hide and duck issues. But, we need to do it in a way where it does not seem like were are viciously attacking him. I believe that is where he get a lot of his support. I've heard many swing voters backing him because they feel sympathy toward him, due to vicious attacks.

5. The Buck
It stops at the Pres. desk. The WMD question is being pushed down the memory hole and the history is being re-written. Seems that the Dems don't want this to be an issue either because most of them voted for the blank check and are responsible, as well to the illegal invasion of a sovereign country. The new tack is the economy, trade and outsourcing which are also legit issues. Even with these issues the Dems have their share of responsiblity. The WMD question is a dead end because the American public doesn't want to admit that a Pres. lied to them in such a big way. Clinton's lie was not harmful to natl. security but the Bushco lies cost over 10K Iraqi lives, who knows how many mainings, 550 American troops, who knows how many maimings and Billions. Americans don't want to face this and neither do the Dems, so it will be shoved aside.

Why Kay is pushing this is mysterious to me.

4. I have to write a paper on the war
My sophomore history teacher was assigning topics for these Middle East research papers we have to do, and I chose to do mine on terrorist organizations. She tells me to do it on the war, which is fine by me.

The first part of the paper is on whether the war was justified or not. I'm gonna have a field day. The tough part is where to start.

8. Welcome YearOfTheLama
:hi: Start your paper with some background -- Reagan arming Saddam to the teeth when he was our guy, and both Reagan and bush1 didn't seem to mind all those atrocities back then. Outline how high bush1's poll numbers went during the war with Iraq, how that influenced his son's war-first foreign policies.

9. By all means, get yourself a copy of "Uncovered..."
"...the Whole truth about the Iraqi War." If you use Kazaa or another peer-to-peer client, you can try to search for it there.

The web site where you can order a DVD copy is http://www.truthuncovered.com/ .

"Uncovered" should be required viewing for every American...

Both of those replies seem like good places to start.

Of course, the paper is due three weeks from today, so I have to procrasinate for at least another two weeks. But thanks a lot.

11. When you consider the fact that David Kay is a right wing
idealogue, a corporate welfare whore and an armchair hawk, any criticism of Bush is surprising.

Up to this point he's been doing everything he can to pass the buck away from Bush.

12. I often wonder why Kay said anything at all about WMD when he
stepped down. It certainly wasn't necessary to comment, and I believe this is what finally pierced the media invulnerability bubble and precipitated the shitstorm enveloping shrub. Do you think he honestly has remorse over participating in a propaganda campaign that has resulted in thousands of Iraqi lives and several hundred American lives lost, and untold maimed?

I don't know the man and have no clue why he is making these statements. Of course, he had to come clean about finding no WMDs but why he is still talking about this and pushing Bushco to come clean is mysterious.

Shrub demanded intell to bolster the reasons for an illegal invasion of a sovereign country.I believe that The Office of Special Plans pushed the bogus intell to Shrub the puppet,Congress,UN and the American people.

I strongly suspect that Kay knew that no WMDs would be found. Bushco must've figured that the invasion and after math would go smoothly and that no one would care if no WMDs were found. Since there was an insurgency those rosy scenrios fell flat. Bushco, it seems will get away with the deception anyway.

14. If Kay is a weapons inspector
Maybe he's mad about "the bugging of the UN". Or David Kelly. Just a thought

15. I don't trust Kay.
He is setting up a soft landing for Bush on the WMDs with his "but, but, but Saddam was still dangerous enough to justify the invasion" routine.
