Next they will try to prosecute Aristide for drug-dealing...?
Unless they kill him first.

Also some interesting comments about Guy Phillippe being the subject of a DEA investigation which was "mysteriously dropped" when Phillippe entered the Dominican Republic... Hmm. Let's see: "Become an asset and your troubles are over. Here's some M16s. Here's a list of names of Lavalas leaders..."

(Unlike many papers, the Times actually covers both sides, and quoted two people saying that it was a ridiculous accusation. But Ketant's testimony seems like perfect timing for launching a slander campaign...)

Feb 29th St Pete Times: "Ketant was sentenced by a Miami judge last week to 27 years in jail and was also fined $15-million and ordered to forfeit another $15-million. Prosecutors said his assets include an $8-million villa on a hill overlooking Port-au-Prince, four other houses and paintings by Monet and Picasso.

At his sentencing, Ketant lashed out at Aristide, accusing him of turning Haiti into a "narco-country" and of taking payoffs from drug traffickers.

"The man is a drug lord. He controlled the drug world in Haiti," Ketant said.

Kurzban dismissed the allegations as "garbage" concocted by "a lying, convicted drug dealer" who was trying to bargain for a reduced sentence."
