Waffling and Meandering.. The "code words" of 2004
Edited on Wed Mar-03-04 03:38 PM by SoCalDem
Those are two of the "code words" that will be attached to Kerry. He needs to be pro-active and take their meaning away from Bush.

He can do this very easily by getting ahead of him..

Bush will say he waffled on stances that he took in the past.. They will point to his years' worth of votes..

Kerry just needs to remind the people that he had the courage to GO ON THE RECORD, with whatever information that he had AT THE TIME, and he voted his conscience.....

while on the other hand...Bush claims to be "focused...determined...and a "non-waffler".. Ask yourselves, people.. Have you ever "known" that something was the right thing to do and then found out that perhaps it was not?? Wouldn't a normal, thinking person "adjust" their plans and actions?? George Bush says NO.. Bush thinks it's full steam ahead, batten down the hatches...even if he is WRONG..

He is determined to keep at something , even after his decisions have been proven to be based on lies, misinformation and miscalculations.. Only a FOOL continues down the wrong path, after beinig TOLD he is on the wrong path..

Stubborn foolishness is not decisiveness.. Waffling is really just a silly term for being adult enough to admit that sometimes , issues deserve a fresh look, after new information has come to light.. To refuse to do that is juvenile and ignorant..

Meandering... The real meanderer in this race is the one in the White House.. He has meandered his whole life.. He is a Connecticut blue-blood, scion of a pampered family, yet he claims to be a good ole boy..salt of the earth.. Planting yourself in Texas, converting a hastily bought pig farm, and turning it into a "ranchette", and donning boots, does not "make you common man of the people"..

George meandered from one "procured" job to another, his whole life. At each job, he managed to make money, yet each venture failed.

The only place he did NOT meander was to Viet Nam..

To get the real meaning of meander, one only needs to look at the 2000 election.. He meandered every tiime he opened his mouth.. Every single position he claimed to be FOR, he ended up AGAINST once he managed to get into the white house..

3. Good Points, SoCal. Kerry has to learn to use the "attack" judiciously

but definitely counter any code words the Repugs throw at him. Hopefully he will get more help from the Party Powers than Gore did. And, if they let him down and don't send excellent Dem ligoists out on the Pundit shows, then we are "dead."

I've not seen any evidence of Kerry Campaign having good operatives out there yet who are slick as the Repugs and can make points rapidly. I hope to hell they aren't planning on sending Donna Brazille out again!

Pat Buchanan's sister Bay just said on C-Span this weekend that she and Donna are "Good Friends." We don't need any Repug Good Friends of Friends working for us. We need Attack Dogs! But, judicious ones.

6. I agree about Donna Brazille.
She may be smart but she doesn't cut it in the debate department.
I think their rapid response team is pretty good. See link above.
